Details

Glass carboys are airtight, easily sanitized and do not hold an odor. They can be preferred to plastic buckets and plastic carboys because they do not scratch easily and do not break down over time. If handled carefully, a glass carboy will last decades while giving the same great performance for fermentations. Seal with a #6.5 stopper or universal carboy bung. Our packaging experts have worked hard to create the best packaging and handling methods for glass carboys, so that this product arrives safe and sound.

6.5 gallons is the perfect size for a 5 gallon batch. Plenty of room for the krausen to form without a mess. As usual arrived well packaged with no problems. (Posted on 2/6/14)

Glass is always superior to plastic when it comes to brewing purity. This thing is great. A few qualifications: it's heavy, especially full, so be careful. I don't have any other equipment, so I'm tipping it over to move the liquid to a secondary fermenter. Be aware of that necessity if you don't have other equipment. Also, it's tricky getting liquid into it, and not all over the floor. That said, it's upping my standards for brewing. (Posted on 11/16/13)
Purchased as a second set of carboys Review by Matt

First off, the price is great -- especially for the size weight. I bought my first carboys from a local shop and they were $80/ea! What I like about these carboys is that the neck, has a different profile, which makes them very easy to grip and flip over for cleaning, etc... I also use brew-haulers with these, and they fit great. (Posted on 11/7/13)

Great product. Only complaint is I wish they were marked per gallon. (Posted on 10/23/13)
Glad I bought it. Review by Pete

I purchased the 6.5 gallon carboy with the purpose to brew higher gravity brews without having a huge mess on my hands. I used it for the Imperial Stout extract kit from NB so far and was glad to have the larger fermenter due to a very agressive fermentation. A must have for high gravity beers! (Posted on 9/26/13)

Glass carboys work really well for fermentation as they are easy to clean and you can see the fermentation progress. Love the size and the headspace for 5 - 6 gal batches. (Posted on 9/24/13)
Excellent Carboy Review by Jon

I recently got back into brewing. I've always used the 5gal carboys in the past but now with this as my primary, I can ferment without a blow off. It's also easy to clean with it's smooth sides. I liked it so much I purchased a second and I'm thinking about a third. (Posted on 9/16/13)

Best buy so far Review by Myk

My buddy and I have been upgrading our brewery at a pretty steady pace over the last 6 months, and this is by far the best purchase we have made to date. The extra gallon and a half makes this the perfect 5gal primary fermenter because you'll never have to worry about to much kruesen. (Posted on 9/6/13)
Perfect for large brews Review by Justin

I prefer this one when brewing high gravity brews. No need for a blow off with the extra space this one provides. Good to have at least one of these in the stable. (Posted on 7/12/13)
The Flagship of my Carboy Fleet Review by Michael

Definitely my go to carboy. The first one I ever owned and the one I always put my biggest and most important batches in. The size of it always gives me comfort in brewing high gravity 5 gallon batches without the fear of having to provide a blow off tube. Personally, the width of the bottom, I feel alows the yeast cake to be more spread out and let's the yeasies do their job much better. Definitely worth the money and you can't have just one. Why make a 5 Gallon batch when you can modify your recipe and make a 6 gallon batch instead with no additional work? (Posted on 4/12/12)
I have two of these for primary fermentations Review by Jon

These are the perfect size for primary fermentation. I usually aim to get about 5.5 gallons for primary, that way I can rack about 5 out for secondary. It's not a 5 gallon batch if you only pull 4 gallons with a gallon lost to sediment and blowoff. Plenty of head room, never have to use a blowoff tube. (Posted on 1/23/12)
