Product details

The fermentor that started it all, reinvented again! We've taken the revolutionary Big Mouth Bubbler® glass and re-engineered it with the help of world-class Polish master glassmakers to ensure sturdy, solid, superior craftsmanship.

Extra-thick glass eliminates oxygen permeation and keeps your brew safe. Banish bugs and bacteria with perfectly air-tight seals from a carefully ground, completely smooth and obsessively flat neck top.

In the evolution of Big Mouth Bubbler®, we've added some perks! Instantly measure volume with gallon graduation marks. Easier transfer of clear beer with a taller, narrower body while ensuring less liquid is left behind.

Bid your funnel and siphon sayonara! Pour cooled wort directly from your kettle into the Big Mouth Bubbler® for instant transfers. Pitch yeast without it running down the sides of your fermentor. Easily add flavorings to secondary, and then just as easily remove them!

Gallon graduation markings help ensure precise measurement of fermenter volume.

Last but not least, you asked and we listened: more space for the adhesive FermagraF° LCD thermometer than any other glass fermentor! The most obsessively engineered glass fermentor ever created, we are proud and excited to introduce the new and improved Big Mouth Bubbler® EVO 2.

Note: We still strongly recommend the Big Mouth Bubbler® carrying harness.

Each Big Mouth Bubbler® Includes:

  • Big Mouth Bubbler® Glass Fermentor, Universal Lid*

*The new Big Mouth Universal Lid (included) fits all Big Mouth Bubbler® Fermentors. The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Ribbed silicone rings ensure a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move, preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermentor.

You will also need a Small Universal Carboy Bung - drilled or solid

It may have variations in shape and thickness, and will show the normal bubbling characteristics of hand-formed glass. Extreme changes in temperature or sudden contact with hard surfaces may cause glass to crack. Handle with care. We strongly recommend using the Big Mouth Bubbler® carrying harness for increased safety and ease of handling.

Wide mouth glass

I like being able to see what the brew is doing and the ease of cleaning. The only issue is sealing the top as it sometimes slides up. I've remedy that with a half gallon jar which fits nicely over the bubbler and weighs it down. When priming and bottling I still use the buckets with the spout, works much better.

Love the ease of cleaning, the lid design is garbage.

I would give it 5 stars if it were not for the lid. It is great to not have to use B*Brite or another cleaning agent, but the fact that the lid won't stay on without a strap is just silly. Why not provide a threaded lid or something that will actually stay in place without being "strapped down"? Or at least include the strap in the purchase and price since the bubbler is useless without it. The rubber seals just pop out so the airlock does nothing with having some way to secure the lid. Other than the lid, I love the quality, the design and the added gallon graduations.

Big mouth bubbler

All in all it is a very nice fermenter but I found that flipping the seal around so the widest portion is at the bottom gives a better seal and a lower chance of the lid popping off. I also found that whilst using a single piece airlock I would still have trouble with the lid popping off that was eliminated using a three-piece

I like it. Mostly

Great fermenter. I love the wire mesh insert for dry hopping. My only issue is that if you have a really active fermentation, it WILL push the lid up. I solved this by 3d printing a lid that sits on top of it with nylon straps and clips (similar to the plastic clips on a back pack) that hold it on. My 3d printed lid has a hole to fit over the airlock. After that, I've had zero issues. Love it.

Big Mouth EVO2 -6.5 Gallon Glass Fermentor

I am experimenting with large batches of Kombucha because the smaller one gallon jars are just too small for my needs. I purchased 2 of the Big Mouth 6.5 Gallon Containers and I am in F1 of my first big batch and should be in F2 in a few days, and will need to transfer the 5gallons to the second container. I recommend that you use a pump to transfer from your kettle to the container and from container to container since the Fermenters are heavy just by themselves, never mind trying to lift about 45 pounds of beer or kombucha plus the weight of the containers and accurately transfer your product without making a mess. So far, the containers are an excellent addition to my home brewing accessories and I'm thinking about buying a couple more.
