Mead Making

Mead is a wine made from honey and is possibly mankind's original fermented beverage. Mead kits yield three or five gallons and can be brewed using equipment from a beer or winemaking starter kit.

For melomels with fruit, we recommend an extra-large primary fermentor of 7 to 8 gallons.

Be sure to take a look at our NB Artisanal Mead Kits, made with Ames Farm's amazing honey — these are simple and traditional mead recipes designed to let the honey shine through. Because the floral sources and composition of Ames Farm honey will change with the season and years, and are dependent on variables like hive placement and weather, every batch of these kits will be unique.
