Details

Whether you're late hopping, hop standing, hop bursting, first wort hopping, dry hopping, or just plain hopping, the Super Structure is the extract for you. Clean and crisp, with hints of biscuits and bread to add mystery and complexity, it's a gold medal formula. This unique blend is specially-formulated from select American 2-row malt, English Maris Otter malt, and a light caramel malt. The three malts bring complexity and depth, but know when to hold back and let the hops do the talking. No overpowering caramel sweetness to clash with bracingly bitter hops - this is made for hop monsters.

PPG of 1.036, Lovibond of approximately 4.5

Northern Brewer Malt Syrups are some of the freshest malt extracts you can buy. Our high rate of turnover- we package and sell hundreds of gallons every day -means that the syrup you receive won't have been sitting on the shelf for months. Fresh malt extract makes better beer!

I found this to be very malty, light colored while not overpowering the hop flavor. (Posted on 2/12/14)
Nice malt extract Review by Larry

I made a two gallon batch with one bottle of extract. Two weeks in the bottle and it is all ready good. I like the fact that it finished dry and not overly sweet like some extracts. I used US-05 yeast and plan to use Super Structure to experiment with different hop combinations in my two gallon fermenter. (Posted on 1/23/14)

Good structure to add to my Galaxy IPA. Half grains, half extract. Mostly two row which is what I wanted. (Posted on 1/18/14)
Great Extract, one step closer to Snow Day Review by Tristan

Used this extract, along with the Rye, and Maris Otter. 3 weeks later, we have a close clone to the New Belgium Snow Day, that has been discontinued for some reason... (Posted on 1/13/14)

Double IPA Review by Joshua

If you are making a Double IPA, you have to use some of this extract. Whether you want some malty goodness to build on or looking to add some great color it hits the spot. Go big and pick up a least one bottle. (Posted on 10/16/13)
Perfect Combination Review by Mark

Used this extract for an American IPA and couldn't be more pleased with the results. Flavor profile for malt is just as good as using a grain bag for steeping if not better. The hop profile was a bit different for my IPA but I would say the overall finished product puts it right there with Dead Ringer. To really test it, the next batch has an OG of 1090. Hop it up! Triple Witching Weekend Review by Tom

I bought some Super Structure Extract to make an IPA, as well as a Cal Common kit and a SMASH kit. Brewing thrice over the long Labor Day weekend. As usual, the order was packaged well and package(s) arrived sooner than expected. I have the SMASH and the IPA in the fermenter now. Cal Common to come. I'll update after imbibing. I have made several IPAs and they have turned out good. Recently made an all Citra Imperial IPA with this extract and it has turned out amazing. Such complexity in the taste and allows the hops to fully come through. This is my new go to for any IPA recipe! (Posted on 8/23/13)

Super Structure = super beers Review by Scott

Great to have some extra malt options like this, when brewing with extracts. Fresh, as promised, and the jug-pack is way more convenient than the bagged alternative. Used the SS LME in my Solstice IPA, so she's still in the secondary fermented. Satellite sample tasted great though, with more complexity than usual. Can't wait for the finished product! NB is my new supply house, without a doubt. Cheers! (Posted on 7/14/13)
Complexity simplified Review by Daniel

I used this 3.15 lb jug as a late addition in a recent IIPA recipe, the balance of complex flavors is surprising. It is the perfect blend of malts to give you the complex flavor you want without the hassle of steeping/mashing different 5-6 different grains, great simplifier Highly recommend giving it a spin in anyone IPA recipe.
