Hops for Beer Brewing
Hops are the essence of beer brewing. They are the tiny cone-shaped flowers of the Humulus lupulus plant. Hops provide both bitterness (IBUs) and a wide variety of flavor to numerous beer styles. Each variety of hop produces a different ratio of Alpha Acids, Beta Acids, and other flavor compounds that are desirable in brewing beer. Floral, Citrus, Spicy, or Fruity qualities are just some of the flavors and aromas made possible with different varieties of hops. In fact, many popular beer styles today are brewed to feature specific hop flavors. Currently, there is a wide assortment of hop varieties that provide an endless palette for experimenting with your beer brewing.
Hops can be added to your beer at any time, whether in a boil addition or Dry Hopping in the fermenter. Additionally, the natural preservative qualities of hops help the beer remain stable over time. We have dozens of different and unique hops for brewing - domestic, imported, pellet hops, and whole leaf hops. We also offer resources for growing your own hop rhizomes.
Our brewing hops are pelletized for freshness, then nitrogen flushed to eliminate any remaining oxygen, before being sealed in a light-proof bag.
