Made my first yeast starter with this a few weeks ago and I was amazed at how quickly my fermentation took off after pitching my yeast. I can't wait to try my brew.

Perfect for Yeast Starter
Was able to raise a thriving Yeast Starter that took off within 6 hours in the fermenter. Using Fast Pitch and a stir plate, I had the best attenuation I've ever achieved during primary fermentation (88%).

I love it. Very easy
I love it. Very easy to save your favorite yeast strain, or multiply the active yeast before you pitch it.

Fantastic product
Excellent idea, I don't have to mess with wort or getting the starter done 12 hours in advance. Just pour, mix, and go. How much easier can you get!

Great Starter Equals Great Beer!

Really speed up fermentation.

Saved a batch
I purchased the yeast starter kit to ensure I had good yeast for a batch of porter. I suspected it was bad. My suspicions were confirmed when the starter failed to kick off. It saved me the cost of making a failed batch.

Should you boil the water then cool before mixing with fast pitch? Or can you use bottled water at room tempeture?
Stefan G on Dec 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use bottled water at room temp. Just sanatize the outside of the bottle before opening.
When making a yeast starter, shouldn't you use an airlock, or just the foam stopper?
N A on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Foam stopper. The yeast needs oxygen for growth. Airlock would prevent oxygen from getting in.
When will this be back in stock? It feels like it's been forever.
A shopper on Jun 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, we are experiencing a supply chain issue and don't currently have an ETA. Cheers!
Does the stopper have a hole for an airlock if not what size stopper would fit it the flask?
S N on Mar 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It comes with a foam stopper that you sanitize. I guess the still wet foam stopper then acts as the airlock in effect for the time the yeast is starting. A #10 stopper fits the flask in case you prefer to go that way.
Do you soak the foam stopper in sanitizer while the yeast is propagating?
Kevin R on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I soak the stopper in sanitizer and put some sanitizer on the top of the Fast Pitch can before popping to top as well. I squeeze out some of the sanitizer from the foam stopper before inserting into the flask.
When would you need a 2L flask vs 1L? could a 1L handle most scenarios?... I am most interested in using starters for only high gravity beers and brew 5Gal batches.
M S on Feb 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: A one-liter starter is sufficient in many cases, but if a person does VERY high gravity beers, or 10 gallon batches, a two-liter starter kit would be better. You can make larger starters, and create a larger yeast culture to ferment a full 10 gallon batch. But for most uses, a one-liter starter is good for standard 5 gallon batches. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
How many brews is this package good for? Also, how long will it keep in refrigeration?
G Y on May 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The Fast Pitch, in my opinion, is an excellent idea!. I've used both dry and liquid yeast both with equal success and its a good way to make sure your yeast is viable- result - less chance of a stuck fermentation. The kit comes with 4 cans and is good for 4-1 liter starters, enough for 20 gallons of beer. I pitched a 1 liter starter into an approximate 6.0% abv brew I did two nights ago, it took 5 hours for the bubbling magic and it's still going strong at about 4-5 bubbles a second! As far as how long it stays good for, its in a sealed can much like a beer, my fast pitch gets stored on a shelf and I save room in the fridge for the beer! Cheers!
How long can these be stored before they expire?
Chris O on Mar 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is a date on the bottom of the can. I don't know if it is a production date or an expiration date. If an expiration date, I would assume that it should be good until that date and maybe a little beyond. If refrigerated, maybe longer.
Do you have to use liquid yeast or can you use dry?
B L on Jan 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Your choice. I used the Safale S-05 dry yeast and was very successful. Cheers!
Do you recommend refrigerating fastpitch before you use it or is it okay for it to stay in a cool location like in the basement till needed
B R on Dec 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Fastpitch is shelf stable and does not need to be refrigerated. Your basement would be a good storage place.
Is the 2000ml flask big enough to make a 2 liter starter?
Ben S on Dec 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have only used a max of 32 ounces in mine thus far. Worked great for that much volume.
Is the flask that's included in this kit Pyrex and safe to heat directly on the stove?
bronco8777 on Oct 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They are boroscillicate glass but not Pyrex. We do not recommend heating them directly on a stove.
I have a 1 liter flask. How would I use the can with this flask?
B I on Sep 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: To use the Fast Pitch in a one liter flask

add one can of Fast Pitch and one can of water

then add your desired yeast to make the starter.
