Product details

Crystallized Blackberry powder allows you to enjoy the taste of fresh-picked blackberries in whatever you brew or ferment without the hassle of fruit, purees, or thorns. Made from real blackberries, this blackberry replacement can be used to enhance the flavor of beer, hard seltzer, wine, cider, or Kombucha.

Usage:

Recommended to be added at bottling or kegging to taste, 18 grams should be more than enough for most 5 gallon batches.
Add the crystallized citrus packet to 1 cup of water until dissolved. Heat to boiling briefly then add to bottling bucket or keg. Add a little at a time and taste until you are happy with the flavor level.

One bag is just not quite enough

I have used this product a couple times with powder vanilla extract for a milkshake flavor. First time, I used one bag for 5 gallons which gave the beer a slight hint of blackberry flavor which was good but wanted a slight more flavoring. This time, I used 2 bags for 5 gallons and gave it almost too much blackberry flavor with a slight tartness to it but still good. Next time, I will try for 1.5 bags to see if that give me the right amount of blackberry flavor I am looking for.

Blackberry flavor crystals

The blackberry did not want to mix in near as easy as the other flavors. It wanted to clump, but with a few minutes and a mini powered whisk I got the chunks gone. The flavor tasted pretty light but hopefully it will be enough.

Awesome flavor

Used these for extra flavor in my hard seltzer. I find the single pack with the blackberry seltzer kit is not enough flavor so I ad 2 more packs at kegging time. But add some and taste it before just dumping it all in. Personal preference is different for everyone.

Light on Flavor

I was alerted to how light the blackberry crystals are in flavor so I put (2) full packs in my custom home brew instead of just the one packet (which NB includes and recommends in their Blackberry IPA Milkshake recipe). The taste is still light but it is at least noticeable. I recommend that you use no less than 2 packs per 5 gallons if you want to taste them at all.
