Details

At first glance this beer is as white as a frozen tundra, but upon closer scrutiny, tall drifts of American hop flavor and aromas abound. A traditional witbier grain bill and yeast strain coupled with West Coast American hops yields a wonderfully complex India White Ale. A slight spice and tartness from the yeast intermingling with citrus notes from abundant hop additions compliment the silky smooth body created by flaked oats and unmalted wheat. Stay frosty my friends!

First Timer Noob at white ipa Review by John

Once the grains were removed i loved the color. Very pale straw-white like (i did all grain btw). I woke up today thinking i need to check on the fermentation...I came on here and saw a fellow brewer had a blow out and I was like OH SNAP I need to move and adjust the set up. Wanted to say thanks as my OG was higher than the recommended Estimated OG...mine came in at 1.080 so it will be a powerful beer for sure!!! Thanks again for the blow out warning!!! I will come back in 6 wks and give you an update on the first taste!!! (Posted on 4/14/14)
Looks more like a copper IPA at the moment Review by beerpoppa

Beer is sitting in secondary and I've recently added dry hops. Similar to the prior review, the color is copper and not white, we'll see where we end up. Looking forward to consuming regardless. (Posted on 4/3/14)
Update to 2/21/14 Review Review by Ken in MN

This turned out excellent. It took a full four weeks of bottle conditioning to fully carbonate and mellow, but it was worth the wait. If I make this kit again I'll do half of LME at the beginning of the boil and the rest just before the end to get a lighter color, as it turned out amber colored. I don't have the capability to do a full boil or all-grain yet, so I'm limited to late malt additions to achieve lighter color. (Posted on 4/3/14)
Reminiscent of Ranger IPA Review by Ken in MN

I brewed this on 8Feb14. Lots and lots of hops! By Day 2 this one blew the airlock out of the fermenter, but it was still out-gassing so hard that there was no way this baby was getting infected. Active fermentation ended around Day 7. By Day 13 it was ready to rack to Secondary, where it sits now. My initial flavor impression right out of the primary was that it tastes similar to Ranger IPA, which I like and drink often, so I'm anxious for this batch to be ready by Easter so I can share it with family members who also like Ranger. So far the color is copper, which is a long way from white. We'll see how that changes (if at all) in Secondary. Either way, this one's going to taste great! I'm giving it 4 Stars for now. I'll update my review after it's ready to drink. (Posted on 2/21/14)
