One stroke of the racking cane/piston assembly will start a siphon when immersed in as little as six inches of beer or wine; less than six inches may require a second stroke. Includes a removable diverter tip to minimize sediment pickup. Plastic construction; can be disassembled for cleaning.
This auto-siphon is sized for 1 gallon jugs and is 13.5" tall. Works best with 5/16" ID siphon hose, but 3/8" will work as well.

The easiest and quickest way to siphon. Will recomend to everybody I know. (Posted on 12/4/11)Rating - Depends on your carboy Review by Bob_Ham

This may work well if you're using a 5gal glass carboy or an open bucket. If using a larger, taller, 6.5gal glass carboy, you're going to have trouble. To properly use the device, you have to hold onto the top and bottom and pull them towards each other. If using a 6.5 gal carboy to do a 5gal batch, the space from the surface of the beer to the opening in the carboy is too large for the bottom of the siphon to actually touch the beer and work. In short - if you're using a 6.5gal glass carboy, be prepared for serious disapointment as the siphon just isn't long enough. (Posted on 3/1/11)Rating - Home brewers must have Review by BigE

This is a must have for home brewers. With this racking cane it only takes a couple minutes to siphon off a 5 gallon batch. The biggest complaint that I have heard is that the cane is easy to break when you are attempting to remove the hose from the cane after use. I found that if you coat the cane with a small ammount of keg lube before attaching the hose to the cane - it removes very easy. Happy brewing. - This racking cane works very well. The biggest complaint that I have heard is that you can break the end of the cane when attempting to remove the hose from the cane. I found that if you put a very small amount of keg lube on the cane before you place the host on it - it removes very easily - happy brewing. (Posted on 12/23/10)
