Northern Brewer Amber malt syrup is a composed of pale malt with caramel 60 for a grainy caramel sweetness and Munich malt for increased complexity and fullness. Provides a solid base for Amber Ales, Bocks, Scottish beers, Brown Ales and more. Approximately 10L and 1.036 ppg. Our malt jugs are made from BPA-free plastic. I used this in Scottish Wee Heavy as a replacement for an amber malt that was discontinued by another supplier. Tough to tell for sure, since the previous brew is all gone, but I do think the new batches are slightly better.

I had a bad experience with another extract so I was anxious to get started using this one . What a world of difference, I was planning my recipe based on a 1.036 boil gravity and this extract delivered almost spot on (1.037) . Couldn't be happier and I'm waiting to taste the end results, I'm sure from the other reviews I've got nothing to worry about. Just so you know, I did three pounds to make three gallons of wort, chilled three samples to an appropriate temperature and took the average of the readings VERY EASY AND HARD TO DO WRONG. If you can put a hydrometer into a tube and you can take the temperature of the liquid then you may as well take a sample reading to ensure your hops utilization is correct! (Posted on 8/3/10)
