The strongest, most effective false bottom on the planet—introducing the Titan™ Universal False Bottom for better beer, no matter how you brew it. Titan™ delivers high efficiency, clarity and a solid grain bed whether you mash in a MegaPot 1.2™, a cooler or a keggle.

Brew bigger. The Titan™ has been designed and rigorously tested against the most intense grain bills and kettle hop additions our brewmasters could throw at it. Whether you're crafting a 12% imperial stout or a triple IPA with 20 oz. of hops, the Titan™ is tough enough to take it.

Gleaming, superior stainless construction looks beautiful and lasts a lifetime. Smooth edges won't scratch your precious mash tun, keeping it pristine for countless brews to come. A flanged bottom keeps particulates separated for improved clarity. Best of all, with less than ¼" of dead space you'll get every last drop of wort.

Required but not included: a 3/8" barb for the inside of your kettle or cooler and a short length of high-temp tubing to connect the barb to the elbow on the false bottom. Worm clamps can also help secure this connection.

If using one of our new IsoFlow Bulkheads or EZ Clean Flush Mount bulkheads, choose the IsoFlow ⅜” Snap In hose barb to connect your false bottom.

Product Details
A false bottom acts as a strainer, preventing grain particles from draining into the boil kettle with wort. An essential piece of all-grain equipment, we've built the Titan™ to be stronger and more effective than any other false bottom.

Our brewmasters have thrown every worst-case brewing situation at the Titan™. It has never clogged and never collapsed. The two-piece proprietary Titan™ pickup tube supports the dome to withstand whatever pressure your biggest brew day can muster.

The Titan™ pickup tube gets closer to the floor of your mash tun than any other false bottom. You'll be able to transfer more of your wort into the boil kettle, leaving less than ¼" behind in what is called the "dead space".

With its chrome-like sheen and smooth edges, it's a beautiful piece of all-grain equipment that keeps the rest of your equipment beautiful, too. No scratched brewing vessels or clogged ball valves. Just a smooth flow, clear wort and an effective, stress-free brew day.

Required but not included: a 3/8 barb for the inside of your kettle or cooler and a short length of high-temp tubing to connect the barb to the elbow on the false bottom. Worm clamps can also help secure this connection.

If using one of our new IsoFlow Bulkheads or EZ Clean Flush Mount bulkheads, choose the IsoFlow ⅜" Snap In hose barb to connect your false bottom.

Great product!
I have found this to be a reliable part of my mash tun after 40 brewing sessions. Very easy to disassemble and clean, as well

Great new addition to my brewstand
I've brewed for years and years using the regular old 10 Gal. Igloo and Bazooka tube but finally decided to increase my volume so I bought a 15 Gallon 3 ga. Pinch pot. This False Bottom worked out perfectly. After installing everything in the new pot, I just added a pc of high heat 3/8" silicone hose to seal around the bottom and I was ready to go. It handled a 24# American IPA grain bill with no problem what so ever. No stuck sparge, vorlauf cleared well, was a breeze to take out, wash and clean, I was really impressed. Highly recommended, I would definitely buy again. And of course, Northern shipped and on its way, fast as always. I recommend them as well.

Works Great!
Overshot my first brew due to higher than expected efficiency. Never plugged up and wort came out nice and clean. I highly recommend this.

Overall a great value
Purchased this on one of the great sales from NB. Great build quality. Excellent heat retention. Only drawback - took some work to eliminate any drips and leaks. Very happy overall with the product.

Should Be Heavier
I've only used the 15" bottom once in my keggle/mash tun. 14# of malt, so not a huge load. Upon removing malt from the tun I found that one side of the screen had collapsed. May need to rig some sort of under screen support as I'm sure that once it flexs it will continue to do so.

Response from Northern Brewer
Hi Robert,

I apologize that the false bottom collapsed on you, that shouldn't have happened particularly with that small amount of weight. They're designed to withstand much greater force with a recirculating pump. We'd be happy to set up a replacement for you if you'd like.

How well will / does this false bottom hold up to heavy grain bills? On average, I use 12#'s on regular-light batches (which I'm sure is no problem..)but up to 31#'s + when I do my seasonal Barleywines & big batches. I'm looking to upgrade my 60qt MT from the "HomeDepot, copper tubing style false bottom" I built years ago to some thing like this but I'm kind of wary as to whether it can hold up to the heavier batches. Any recommendations would be appreciated, Thanks.

BEST ANSWER: The first unit I purchase dimpled down on one side the first time I used it. Didn't affect the performance, but I was surprised since it was a relatively light batch of malt in a keggle. Northern Brewer immediately sent a replacement that has performed perfectly with no issues (max. mash to this point has been 22# of malt). First screen could have been an anomoly, but Northern Brewer made it right.
How wide is the flat, unporiferated ring/lip around the edge? Also, does the dome's edge sit flush with the pickup in the center when installed? I'm thinking about whether it would be possible to trim this down to fit a 14"D pot. Thanks!
A N on Aug 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: That is 15". The center elbow doesn't drop all the way down, there's enough space for liquid to flow. I wouldn't try to trim one down, I would go with the 11.5" size. It isn't necessary for the dome to cover the entire bottom, it doesn't increase performance and it's just increasing the amount of dead space in the kettle/cooler.
I plan on recirculating my mash
Will this FB handle a pump?

Thanks
R O on Jun 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes works great, I have had zero stuck sparges even on wheat beers and I recirc during the whole mash.
Are there any adapters to connect this to a stainless steel pickup tube?
R O on Jan 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The titan universal false bottom acts as the dip tube drawing the liquid from near the bottom of the pot. The false bottom has a 3/8" barb on it and so can be connected via tubing to another 3/8" barb. So, if you had a ball valve/bulk head they usually have 1/2" threading so getting a 1/2" MPT x 3/8" barb usually does it....we also have a special isoflow bulkhead which accepts a quick release 3/8" barb. I hope this helps!
Will this fit in a 16 gallon bayou classic kettle?
T H on Dec 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This false bottom will fit in any kettle with an inside diameter of 15" or larger.
If running a direct fire propane RIMS system, will the lack of dead space result in scorching/burning of grains when wort is recirculating?
Henrik on Oct 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This false bottom is fine to use in a Direct system. Although there may be less dead space than other false bottoms this still suspends the grist off the bottom of the kettle.
