The BEAST!!!!! Review by steve
I have to admit, the other reviewers are right. The first batch I brewed discolored the upper copper rim. I DON'T CARE!!!!! This burner is a beast!!!!! I brew in my walk in basement. I really don't care what it looks like. It drastically reduced my brew time. I absolutely love it. (Posted on 4/21/15)
Passes "brewtal" rookie test with flying colors Review by Hal
The following data reflects not only my first experience using this burner, but also the first time I ever brewed in my life. So I'm pretty sure that experienced brewers will see much better heating times, as they won't make the same mistakes I did.

No test runs, no prior experience with brewing. The air temp was 38 degrees when I started.

I assembled the extender legs to the burner, put 6.5 gallons of 40 degree water (which was "room temperature" where I'd stored them in the garage) in a 15 gallon brew kettle, and lit the unit for the first time.

I adjusted the flames until they were virtually pure blue (almost no yellow). I'm pretty sure this wasn't "full blast", but I knew it would be frugal with the propane, and after brewing was completed, the unit had very little discoloring.

It didn't dawn on me to cover the kettle with the lid (duh!) until the water temp reached 94 degrees, 15 minutes later.

After covering with the lid, the temp reached 160 in 20 more minutes.

I turned off the burner and steeped the grains for 30 mins, then stirred in the malt extracts thoroughly before relighting the burner. By that time, the water temp was down to 134.

It took 25 minutes after re-lighting to reach boiling.

I learned a lot from this first outing, such as starting with 70 degree water rather than 40, which should significantly reduce heating times! I will also warm the cans of extract (they poured like honey) and relight the burner before adding them.

All things considered, I'm really happy with this burner and looking forward to even better results!

Best avalible right now Review by cody
I have had this burner for over a year, and I am now getting a second one for my brew house. – Keep in mind - yes the top part of the burner will not keep its color (due to heat – can’t really stop this – does stay shiny, I use bar keepers friend to give it a good shine). The burner is an efficient power house and saves a lot of time and money on a brew day. – The leg extensions are perfect. Also people wonder about the strength – the strength is great better than any others I have seen, it can hold a lot – it is copper clad not pure copper, so the legs are steel with a copper clad coating. So they are supper strong 1” square Steel tubing (the strongest design I have seen on any burner yet), and either 1/16 or 1/8” gauge thick, not to sure which one, but plenty strong. You may think copper coating will it scratch or get ruined, I have not had any problems with mine, keep in mind copper clad, is not a powder coating or paint (research copper clad), I have found it to be more durable it also is a very good way to increase the longevity of steel (best of both worlds if you ask me Strength of steel and looks and corrosion resistance of copper). Happy brewing! (Posted on 12/19/14)
A nice upgrade... Review by Kyle
I decided to upgrade my old no name turkey frying burner to the Edelmetall Bru Burner. An upgrade indeed. Brought my wort to a boil much faster than my old burner, and sustained a much vigorous boil throughout. Cut about 45 minutes off the time it took to achieve a boil. The needle valve is nice and controlling temperature is easy. The burner is incredibly sturdy and there is no lack of quality. Overall, a great burner. I wanted to give it 4.5 stars for two reasons. The color of the "copper-clad steel" tarnishes after your first boil. Not a big deal but I would have liked it to stay pretty. Also, the needle valve snapped when I tried to tighten it, requiring me to get a replacement from NB. Probably my own fault but the first time I tested this, a small flame came back around the valve which is why I went to tighten the valve. Extremely happy with my purchase and NB customer service. I've never used the Blichman but I'm not sure it would be much, if any, better than the Edelmetall. I recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their burner. (Posted on 12/8/14)
Great product, but doesn't look nice for long.... Review by Colin
As everyone says this is a great burner! Only two downsides I could find are;

1) The nice shiny copper finish was ruined the first day by a boil over and the heavy flame. Huge disappointment as the fancy finish was a big reason for going with this over the blichman.

2) You need to have a very wide bottom kettle. My 8 gallon kettle is too small and the flames travel right up the side of the pot and scorched my valve.

So keep those things in mind and you'll be quite happy with your purchase. I also think a big improvement with this over the old turkey fryers that doesn't get mentioned much is how quiet this thing burns, you can brew a beer without a loud torch blowing in the back! (Posted on 10/26/14)
This thing is a beast Review by Justin
I have had this burner for about 9 months now and it is amazing. It will bring room temperature water up to a boil in no time flat. I use it in conjunction with a 10 gallon kettle and have had no issues what so ever. It has a very even disbursement of heat. Overall I would give this a 5/5 because of the build quality and it quietly gets the job done. (Posted on 9/28/14)
This thing cranks out the BTUs Review by Steven
Stopped in the Minneapolis store while in town on business specifically to buy this burner. Got the leg extensions as well. Got back home and couldn't wait to try it. Man! This thing cranks out the BTUs! It's beautiful and powerful. Guys at the store were awesome, especially Christian. (Posted on 9/22/14)
Gorgeous and Mightily Powerful Review by Paul
I can't say enough about this burner - it's quiet, its took 70 degree water to 175 in 10 minutes, and 100 degree water to boiling, and a ROARING boil, in less than 15.

75 to 175 = 10 minutes
100 to 212 < 15

The finish does not stay pristine, but it can be buffed up after the fact if you're desperate.

The thing that impressed me most was how silent this beast is. No roaring or whining, a gentle hiss at best.

Also, given the price, the craftsmanship is outstanding and the capability is wonderful. Don't spend the extra money because it has a brand name you recognize.

I think I'm moderately in love with this thing. Sign of being an adult: excitement over trivial purchases. (Posted on 9/13/14)
Good looking and Sturdy Review by John
Although the stainless steel finish had a few scratches on it, it is a great looking burner. Cut my brewing time down by a half an hour. Uses less gas than my turkey-style burner. I also purchased the Leg Kit. It is very stable. My only complaint is the oxygen control plate on the venturi is very tight against the gas valve. Could be just a quality control issue. Otherwise a great burner. (Posted on 8/30/14)
Great Burner, Fast Boil Review by William
I bought this to replace the old "turkey fryer" darkstar-style burner, and I'm really happy I did. It feels like I'll be using this thing for years. The pictures don't do this thing justice,. it's huge. It's solid and well built.

Big enough to fit my Keggle on easily, and it sit's up high enough for me to siphon out it after cooling.

Great product, I've had several 10 gallon brews now with it and it's noticeably faster and uses less propane than my old burner. The needle valve, and air vent allow you to dial in a good heating level,. this thing gets hot quick,. keep a spray bottle on-hand to help prevent boil overs. (Posted on 8/19/14)
Great Burner Review by Sam
Just picked this up at the scratch and dent from NB. I went in intending to buy a Dark Star because of it's price, but this was sitting - used - on the showroom floor.

This thing is a beast. It is incredibly sturdy, has great flame protections and has pinpoint control to prevent boil overs.

The highlight of this workhorse, definitely the rock solid build. The burner has great recovery after hop additions or dropping in the wort chiller, crank a little and the boil comes right back.

65 Degree to 100 Degrees, 8-10 minutes
170 Degrees to Rolling Boil, 10 minutes

After adding extract - 2 minutes to return to rolling boil

The pinpoint control in unbelievably welcome to be able to control boil over at the hot break and hop additions.

The only downside, it gets hot enough to scorch the pretty copper ring and discolor it pretty badly. I got it used so I went in eyes wide-open. If you get this thinking it will be a display piece with that beautiful copper color, you will be disappointed. That being said, I think the flame licked copper looks cool and it works very very well.

5 stars for function
4 stars for finish

Great Burner Review by Scott
I've used this for 2 brews now. The first brew, I thought something was wrong. I couldn't get a consistent blue flame on it - it took me an hour to get to mash temp then almost 90 minutes to get to a boil. I searched around online, and I guess some regulators go into low-flow mode if you turn the propane on too quickly.

So, on my last brew over the weekend, I only turned the propane tank on about half way and controlled the flow with the regulator. Low and behold, I was able to get a beautiful blue flame with orange tips consistently. I got to mash temp in about 10 minutes, and I got to boiling in about 25 minutes. What a turnaround! This thing is a beauty and is one of the best brewing purchases I've made! (Posted on 7/25/14)
Amazing Review by Ed
This is just an amazing piece of equipment. Looks great, it's quiet and it really speeds up my brew day. One of the best brewing purchases I've ever made, if not the best. WOW. (Posted on 4/18/14)
Fast, quiet, nice! Review by mark at Turbo Brew
This burner looks as good as it performs, don't leave your kettle unless you want a boil over! This is the fastest to boil that I have ever witnessed. Did two 5 gallon batches side by side, and this one blows my old burner away! Sturdy too, but the only thing I would change would be caps on the feet to prevent scratching and protect table surfaces. A nice addition to any home brewers arsenal. (Posted on 4/14/14)
Brilliant Review by Nathan
This burner is on-point and much more than I expected. With a 7.5 gal kettle I cannot wait to use this burner with a half barrel setup. With a stated brewing capacity of 30 gallons, it is easily more, I just need a larger kettle! Heavy, well constructed, adjustable in both size for kettle and burner intensity, and obviously, it is appealing to look at. I'm sort of concerned with the copper tarnishing over time, but who cares, the quality of beer produced with this burner will be great! Built for home brewing with both beer and brewer in mind! Thanks NB, I'm really looking forward to more Edelmetall equipment in the future. (Posted on 4/5/14)
awesome the picture do not do it justice Review by 007
awesome the picture do not do it justice it is a massive burner. I was worried that the fifteen gallon kettle would not be stable. I was wrong if you are tired of 30,000 burner and waiting for the boil buy one of these. I was very impressed solid construction very quiet and no more black soot on my pot. I should have bought it a long time ago. here is to a faster boil and more time enjoying the beer and not waiting on a boil. you will not be disappointed. (Posted on 3/19/14)
Great upgrade Review by Ideal Brewing
After years of brewing on a 'blowtorch' burner I was ready to upgrade. Looked at Blichmann and Edelmetall, decided that the price value pointed to the Bru Burner. I am very happy with the choice.
Beside the bling factor, construction is solid, set up a snap and performance is awesome.
Time to temp is definitely less, but more important this burner is so quiet. I actually found my brew day was more relaxed without the persistent sound of a blow touch in my ears. This is a great upgrade. (Posted on 3/11/14)
Great Bling For Your Buck. Review by Matthew
I don't review many products, but I thought I should at least say something about this burner. It looks great and is very sturdy. The burner itself is well designed and creates an array of perfect blue flames that heats any amount water in a very short timeframe. If you're looking for a burner that gets the job done at a good price, then look no further.

Excellent Burner Review by tgn
I recently used this burner for the first time, and I prefer it over my old Banjo Cooker. First, I live in Chicago, so brewing outside in winter is a challenge. The Edelmetall has great heat output, and also focuses the energy due to the low placement of the burner within the body. The low placement also protects the flame from getting blown out by the wind; here in Chicago my Banjo Cooker would have to be restarted several times during a 60 minute boil. The Edelmetall is also designed to hold your brew kettle in place. Finally, I feel that I can control the output of the Edelmetall much better than the Banjo. I highly recommend this product. You need one of these! Review by Burns's Bullets & Brewing
I received this for Christmas and have brewed about 6 batches using this burner. It works extremely well compared to other burners on the market I've used. What I like best about it is that it has a banjo style burner that heats the entire bottom of the pot evenly. The burner set on a "medium" setting will boil three gallons of water from room temperature in about 10 minuets. In addition this thing is built to last; and with a little care taken it will last indefinitely. I highly recommend this burner you will not be disappointed!! (Posted on 2/22/14)
Don't wait you're missing out! Review by AmickBrew
This is one of the best purchases I have made for brewing. It is incredibly well built, better then I expected. I have been using a turkey fryer for a couple years and this blows it away. The one thing I did not expect was how whisper quiet it is, I can barely tell its on. It can also be fine tuned to hold a perfect boil. You will not be sorry if you purchase this burner. Great burner Review by Sparetime Brewing
Other then a few loose screws this burner is awesome. Great heat, solid built. And very sturdy. Definitely recommend this to anyone. (Posted on 1/12/14)
Light it up! Review by Todd
Many may dismiss this burner due to the bling. That's a mistake. It is incredibly well built, and functions like a pro. Took 12 gallons of mash-out wort from 130F to boiling in about 18min. Wow. And I am shocked at how quiet she runs. Home-run with this piece NB! (Posted on 1/3/14)
Great build and looks pretty too! Review by Robert
It's a solid burner with a little bling to it. It took 7 gallons from room temp to boil in about 25 minutes and I didn't realize that it wasn't on full burn till about half way through the test run.

The only con is it weighs as much as a small car. (Posted on 1/2/14)
Great burner Bling Bling Review by MELVIN
I was dubious at first, thought I should have just gotten the Blichman... This thing is so freakin beautiful... I was concerned that the air vents were small, but they are not. Turned all the way up, the vent adjusted to about half way gives a solid blue flame... No more of that raw unburned propane smell, it burns very clean. On my first 75 min boil, my kettle was absolutely clean on the bottom! No more soot! The needle valve allows precise adjustment of the flame. Im very happy with this burner! (Posted on 12/27/13)
Edelmetall Brü Burner Review by Stephen
The design is very nice and definitely top quality. I took this burner for a test run with 5 gallons of cold water (outside atmosphere temperature was roughly 35 degrees) and on full gas it took approximately 24 minutes(+/- a minute). This burner is amazing and I would definitely recommend it to people. I think the only drawback for some people is that it doesnt have the ability to be raised up with higher legs like the Blichmann burner. I wouldnt want it to be any higher though as Id prefer to NOT have it topple by some unforseen accident. I may have overdone it for my first burner in my first time brewing but Ive seen it before and knew this was what I wanted to work with. Also this WAS an early Christmas present from my folks so even then...this burner is well worth the price. $140 plus $8 shipping? I know it cost much more than that just to ship it so thank you NB! If I had an unlimited amount of money I would buy all kinds of toys from you guys! (Posted on 12/17/13)
Edelmetall Review by Drew
Fantastic product all around. Superior design, excellent craftsmanship, and quality materials used. I was skeptical spending $140 on a burner but the time it has saved on brew day is priceless; saved roughly 45-60 minutes heating double batches. You get what you pay for with this burner. Highly recommended. (Posted on 12/10/13)
Edelmetall vs. Blachmann Floor Burner Review by FryDaddy's Brewing!
I have used several burners and this one I really like because it is easy to adjust not only the air flow but has a knob right where the gas goes it to control it to exactly temp. I contemplated getting this burner vs. the Blichmann floor burner but given all the pros and cons, (cons being that they don't have stands yet) but I would buy this one again not only because of its looks but it is very well built, perhaps even better than the Blichmann! Thank you NB for carrying such great products for us brewers! (Posted on 11/26/13)
