It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market product with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is your new favorite session beer. Dense layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character you'll be surprised to find if you're used to drinking English brown ale. The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

Winning Ale Review by Adrexco
Rating
Our company's annual meeting hosted a home brewers challenge. I entered the competition as a newbie (second brew I've ever made) against 9 other very experienced brewers. Caribou Slobber took second place out of 10 beers and 180 people voting. Losing only to the most experienced brewer with his all grain 10 year in the making IDA recipe. Thank you Northern Brewers for an award winning beer!! (Posted on 1/25/15)
Great brew. My only complaint is... Review by Nick

the gold bottle caps. My brother and myself both brewed the same kit. We both had issues with the caps. One out of three would seal properly. Took them all off and replaced them with Brewers Best caps left over from past brews. No issues at all. I recommend getting some higher quality caps. Everything else was great. (Posted on 1/18/15)
Great Brown Ale Review by Brandon

This brew turned out great, has been a huge hit with family and friends. The only other brown ale I've made is the Nut Brown Ale, which wasn't nearly as good as this one.

Recommend it! (Posted on 1/10/15)
Excellent homebrew Review by TheDream

As a microbrew beer snob, I started my first homebrew using a Munton's nut brown ale from my local homebrewing store. Didn't turn out too good, still better than any light beer though. Then I tried NB Caribou Slobber. This stuff was great, even that extracted after only two weeks of fermentation and one week of carbonation. I did do a secondary fermantation of one week for most of the brew. This stuff is even better than most brown ales I've had. For the carbonation I used the fizz drops for some and corn sugar for others. They all turned out great with the fizz drop ones being slightly more carbonated, didn't bother me though, just let it sit in the glass for a few seconds. (Posted on 1/2/15)

Better than Moose Drool. This was my first brew in, well since High School (25 years) and I was impressed with the quality of the ingredients all good fresh stuff. it was brewed as instructed with an awesome outcome. I will do this one again for sure. Northern Brewer is a top notch outfit with great prices, great gear and super fast shipping. Keep up the good work. (Posted on 12/15/14)
This good after one week?! Review by Ed

I know, I know - three weeks at 70 to properly carb. Well, I can never wait that long, so I always crack one a week or two after bottling day. I will be getting this kit again - a great fall/cold weather brown ale. Just a SLIGHT hop bitterness to balance with the roasted malt and chocolate flavors. LOVE this brew and those who sampled did too! Rehydrated the Windsor Ale yeast and did 1 week primary and 2 weeks secondary. GREAT WORK YET AGAIN N.B.! (Posted on 11/10/14)
Great Intro to Brewing Review by Highwayman

This ingredient kit came with my essential starter's kit and it was a great introduction to brewing. I know that I could have done some things better, but I did my best to follow directions and I was quite pleased with results.
Gave it 4 weeks in primary before bottling. Bottles tested at 1 and 2 weeks had some off flavors (I did not control fermentation temperature and probably pitched too warm), but others that I've had since, with longer in the bottle, have been considerably tastier—some bitterness from the hops, with notes of coffee and molasses.
Definitely plan to try this one again at some point in the future, now that I have a little more experience. (Posted on 11/10/14)
Give it time! Review by Dennis

Flavor was a little off a couple of weeks after bottling. I gave it two more weeks and the difference was staggering. I'll have another! (Posted on 11/7/14)
Good brew Review by Brew dog

This was my first brew and follower the instructions meticulously. I am very happy with the outcome. I couldn't wait longer than the 6 weeks required. Pounded all of it in 1 week with some help. Seemed closer to a Newcastle than Moose Drool. Could be because I didn't let it sit longer. Overall very pleased

After the addition of a tablespoon and a half of cloves for some bite and spice, my brother in laws rather enjoyed it, being that they were surprised that it was made by myself and not sam adams, saranac. Turned out to be a great beer. (Posted on 10/27/14)
