Details

We've gone to the drawing board to focus on the important dimensions that help deliver a more consistent and high-quality product. This is no plastic water jug, it's a carboy with details where they count.

The plastic is thick and durable, to ensure rigidity and safety during all kinds of brewing operations. Free of plasticizers, BPA, DEHP, and any other extraneous compounds, this fermentor is purpose-built for your finest brews. Hydrophobic, which means it is easy to clean without the use of brushes - it also retains no odor, flavor or color from batch to batch, so it will last a long time.

Great product Review by Mike

Love this fermenter. Bought two of them on the BOGO. Love the fact that it almost cleans itself. No scrubbing!
If I had one knock it would be that I don't like the bung moving up and down until it drys, and the air lock getting sucked dry. Made some changes to my process and everything is fine. I would get another one in a second! (Posted on 4/13/14)
Good, but not perfect alternative to glass. Review by David

I picked up a 5 gallon bubbler, to see how it stacked up to my traditional glass carboys. I love the light weight, easy storage, and low cost/shipping. It did a fine job during my 3 week secondary fermentation, but I discovered that you can't move these plastic carboys with an airlock installed -- the bottom flexes down when you pick it up (and I was even using a harness) and it sucks the airlock water down into the wort. You can move them by taking the airlock out, but the bottom flexing down will still suck a bunch of additional air (ie oxygen) into the vessel which is not exactly ideal. It would be great for a setup where you could fill and rack your carboys in place, but I sometimes have to move mine once or twice during fermentation; and so I'll probably stick to glass for a while longer. Works Great Review by Leonard

I liked these so much, I got 2 more. They are much easier to move around than glass and easy to clean as Secondary Fermentors. I've used up to 1 month with no off flavors in beer. Also, no odors left behind in carboy (like I get using HDPE buckets). For this reason, I may now consider the 6 gallon for Primary. My only reservation would be ability to clean after Primary. Great Product - No More Glass for Me Review by Robert L

I ordered 2 of these a few weeks back and don't think I'll ever go back to glass carboys. These are very well built and super lightweight. Overall a great purchase. (Posted on 11/22/13)

Glad to see something that is improved from the BB. Thicker plastic and easier to clean inside. Glad I have 3 of these! (Posted on 11/21/13)
Light weight Review by Thomas

Good deal and a lot lighter than glass. Only used for 1 batch so far so am not sure how difficult it will to get or keep clean. Being on the long side of 50, the stories about dropped and broken glass ones drove me to this without question. (Posted on 11/20/13)

From GLASS to PLASTIC Review by Harv

I started off only using GLASS carboys many years ago. I have something like 7x 6 Gallon, 6x 5 Gallon and 6x 3 Gallon GLASS carboys. Excessive, yes.

It took a while before I used PLASTIC pails for use as primaries (too many pails now to admit).

Now, I recently put into service two new PLASTIC carboys that I got from Northern Brewer, a 6 Gallon and a 5 Gallon PLASTIC carboy. Very nice. I especially appreciate the light weight of the PLASTIC carboys. The extra weight of a GLASS carboy, when full of liquid goodness, is very noticeable when compared to a full PLASTIC carboy.

I am trying to use PLASTIC carboys & pails for short term storage and long term storage in GLASS carboys.

I make beer, wine, cider & mead and am happy with the equipment I use - both GLASS & PLASTIC. Cheers! (Posted on 11/14/13)

I like the light weight. I'll be using as the primary fermentor, but won't be using it as an aging vessel. Just don't trust plastic for the long term just yet. (Posted on 11/4/13)

In addition to still being super light, the plastic used for these carboys is stronger than what I'm used to with my Better Bottles. Just be aware that the mouth of these carboys is a bit bigger than the better bottle so you may need to purchase a larger bung. All in all a great product. (Posted on 10/29/13)

I ordered two of these and have used them both. They are light weight and very easy to handle. The opening is larger than on glass carboys and that makes them easy to clean. They seem well made and I look forward to using them regularly. The weight saving is the best feature. (Posted on 10/23/13)

What I really like about the bubbler is how easy clean up is and how light the plastic carboy is. It's a nice change from heavy glass carboys and it feels much safer. (Posted on 10/20/13)
Very high quality carboy Review by Mark

I bought these on a 2 for 1 deal and couldn't be happier with the quality! Thick, sturdy plastic and very light weight, definitely superior to the plastic carboy I previously bought at my local brew shop. Definitely recommend it! (Posted on 10/19/13)

These things are great for primary fermentation, especially for the weight savings. The mouth is wider than typical carboys so it is a lot easier to wet hop. Overall great value. (Posted on 10/19/13)

Great carboy Review by Rob

I really love the fact that it has a larger opening then standard carboys. Makes it much easier to dry hop (uses a number 10 bung). Very light weight. Will use these for all beer that is not aged over 2 months (Posted on 10/16/13)
Safe and convenient Review by Andrew

A single broken glass carboy convinced me to never use glass again. This carboy won't turn into an explosion of pointy shards, and the wide mouth makes it much easier to add dry hops and other additions to the secondary. The low price is just a nice bonus, plastic really is the superior product. (Posted on 10/16/13)

I love the light weight and lack of life-threatening shatter potential! Add to that a better price than the Better Bottle, and this is a great product (got in on the 2-4-1 deal also - awesome!) (Posted on 10/15/13)

Excellent Strength, Strong and lite weight Review by Bob
Rating
I have only started fermentation of 2 5 gallon batches of mead. The strength of these very good, the lite weight when empty and the fact they will not break is great. I have broken a Glass carboy in the past and that is no fun to try and get all of the pieces up. So if the rest of the claims are true not getting discolored etc are true I would give it a 5.
