The 8-gallon MegaPot is ideal for performing a full wort boil on any 5-gallon batch. A full boil helps to improve hop utilization and avoid caramelizing the malt extract. This is a great upgrade for any extract brewer, but will work as a boil kettle for 5 gallon All-Grain batches as well. While it can work as an All-Grain mash tun using the Universal False Bottom, the smaller size will limit your grain bill to lower gravity beers.

MegaPot is a masterpiece, not just another steel pot. Every detail has been thought through to enhance the beer making experience. Crafted of 304 stainless steel for ease of cleaning. Stay cool silicone handles on the kettle and lid serve to limit scorching! The handles are riveted in place to aid in lifting a hot liquid-filled pot. No weld failures here! A polished stainless steel band surrounds the upper rim, reinforcing rigidity of the pot while adding a little bling. And that's not all. We've added the feature that every brewer wants in a kettle - graduated volume markers inside the kettle - one at each gallon. No more need for a sight glass! The heart of the kettle is a 4mm thick Tri-Clad bottom- made specifically for even heat distribution. The 1 to 2 proportion of MegaPot has been scientifically designed to promote a vigorous boil and reduce off-flavors. And last of all, the MegaPot logo is stamped on every kettle. Propane burner decoction kettle

I use a 10 gallon electric BIAB system to brew on my back patio all year round, and recently bought this 8 gallon Megapot to conduct decoction mash steps on a propane burner for various beers. I used it last week for first time and it worked great for that purpose. The pot held up well on my propane burner. And I do appreciate the insulated handles on this pot. A 2.6 gallon decoction portion came up right to the temp sensor at the top hole. And I used another electronic handheld sensor to spot check temperature also so as not to overshoot my 158F rest before boiling. I don’t need the valve and spigot at the bottom but there’s no option to buy this Megapot with only the temperature gage hole and not the spigot hole. It’d be better for my use without that lower hole, but it’s fine, it works, & can look for some weldless bulkhead kit in the future.

Very well constructed

This is a solid and well constructed pot. The spigot and thermometer are easy to install and I have had no problems with leaking at the sites where they are installed. The pot also works on my portable induction burner (which is faster than my underpowered gas stove).

What can I say, it's a stainless steel kettle with a spout. Adding the false bottom was a smart decision because it helps keep my wife from attempting to make spaghetti sauce in my brew kettle!
Spout installation was simple, as was the false bottom assembly. Cleaning after brewing can be a challenge if you don't have the right setup, your standard kitchen sink is probably not deep enough, and the wife will likely frown if you want to use her bathtub.
All-in-all, a very nice kettle to start your brewing process.

Loose weldless fittings

The pot itself is sturdy, feelshigh quality. The weldless bulkhead use round o-rings. I have them tightened as tight as I'm comfortable doing without fear of crushing them. It doesn't leak. But the valve moves all over the place when opening/closing. I emailed tech support. My other pot uses flat seals and is tight. It took almost a week for them to get back and suggest the valve will get easier to use over time. All that combined with their non existent return policy, I'll probably go elsewhere next time.
