Product details

The next step up from Dubbel in the monastic beer classification, Tripel is higher in alcohol than Dubbel but is actually lighter in color and body. The addition of clear candi sugar dilutes the malt bill, which helps preserve the golden color and makes the body deceptively light for a beer of this strength. Spicy and fruity with a gentle sweetness and hints of alcohol throughout leading to a dry and mildly bitter finish.

Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

Excellent Kit

This is an excellent kit, that produces excellent results. I have found the results tolerant of elevated (mid 70s) cellaring temperatures, the trick is just to age things for a few months. The results are outstanding.

One thing I wish NB would include in their instruction - high ABV beers like this usually require re-inoculation when bottling - I use Red Star Premier Cuvee Wine Yeast b/c of their higher alcohol tolerance. The original yeast are just too spent for carbonation. Ironically, it was the NB help line that taught me this trick when brewing the Northy12 recipe. It is an important step for these bigger beers.

Belgian Tripel,

The only problem with Belgian Tripel is that my taps say "Belgian Triple". Just so the family doesn't tell that I spelled it wrong. Great beer and a awesome kit!

Gonna be NIIIIICCCEEE!

Brewed this up about a month ago and getting ready to bottle. Used BIAB to mash and substituted candi syrup instead of the candi sugar that came w the kit, which dropped the OG by about a point. Didn’t think that the weight of syrup includes water which doesn’t ferment. Took a FG sample and tasted it and it’s got the makings of a fantastic tripel. Look forward to tasting it in a month or two.

Northern Brewer hit this one out of the park. Big fan of this triple brewed it 2 times and the results were great. I highly recommend this batch.
