Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid - Dual Port
Available in single- and dual-port configurations. Dual-port gives you the ability to constantly monitor temperature through one port while allowing CO2 to escape through the second port.
The first-ever universal lid for Big Mouth Bubbler® fermentors. Engineered by brewers to suit any fermentor in the Big Mouth Bubbler® family, from EVO 2 and Plastic to first-generation glass and even the Little Big Mouth Bubbler®.
The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Ribbed silicone rings ensure a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermentor.
Better yet, the port is perfectly sized for all your standard homebrew tools, from a universal carboy bung and standard blowoff hose to a testing thief and auto-siphon.
Easy to clean, just pop it in the top rack of your dishwasher and run it through a standard cycle. You can also use your standard homebrew cleaners and sanitizers.
The universal lids all use a:
I love the fermenter but hate this lid. It doesn’t stay on the fermenter like the old threaded style lid did. CO2 gases from fermentation blow it off the fermenter leaving the fermenter open to the atmosphere and susceptible to infection. This is a problem known by northern brewer. Was told by northern brewer to reverse the rubber gasket for a better seal but this didn’t work either. They also recommended I dry off the internal neck of the fermenter and rubber lid gasket after sanitizing to have a better seal but then it’s not sanitized because I used an unsanitized dry cloth. I wish I still had my old threaded style lids. This lid needs to be improved.
flipped gasket and no issues popping off. used the double for airlock and temp probe.
I love it. It works very well when using a direct contact temperature sensor along with a fermentation lock.
This lid stays on my 6.5 gal plastic bubbler just fine wet or dry, but I have noticed that the seal is not perfect. I have a bung with a temp probe and a bung with an airlock, and have not seen the airlock bubble, so it is hard to tell how vigorous fermentation is. Overall, I am satisfied that I can control temp and not build up a ton of pressure with this lid on my carboy.
Like the other BMB lids it will not stay in on its own. Great to be able to have a temperature probe and airlock or blow off tube. However it still has the same BMB design fault of not staying in without some sort of external fastenings added on. If it stayed in, it would be a 5
