Quiet workhorse

I’ve been brewing for 30+ years and have gone through several brewing pumps. I had always heard good things about the Riptide and finally decided to take the plunge. I love the tri-clamp fittings, easy priming and, holy cow! Such a quiet, strong and dependable pump! I’m a believer!

Quiet and affordable

These provide a great out of the box solution for precision flow regulation. It works amazing for sparging.

They also provide quite a bit of power, compared to some of the smaller pumps you get with the all-in-one homebrew systems.

However, I wanted to see how well they handled larger quantities of solids. And they basically don’t. One or two stray grains is fine, but don’t try anything more. It clogs pretty quickly, and has to be disassembled to clear (which is super easy)
I ended up dislodging an o-ring from somewhere inside that I can’t get to (I have two of these pumps and complete disassembly and visual inspection showed everything matched). So either there was an extra o-ring I happened to dislodge, or there is an inaccessible one I dislodged as a result of trying to pull some solids through.
