I've brewed this recipe three times. One gallon recipe, I get a yield of 8 or 9 bottles. Batch #2 is aged 1 yr and is very good. Batch #3 was just bottled and won't be touched for at least 6 months. The FG sample was good, though had some alcohol taste to it because of the high ABV (9.5%). This is an easy beer to brew, with good caramel color and taste.
Very tasty! Love the banana note. Going to let it age for a while and then give it another taste.
so far so good 3week in
I brewed this kit in mid August and bottled it yesterday. First let me say that this was a very easy small batch to brew. My OG was 1.108. I followed directions and started the boil at 1.25 gals. I must have lost liquid to boil evaporation because I only got an 8 bottle yield.. FG was 1.026, for 10.7% ABV. I tried the FG sample and it has a strong alcohol presence. Initial taste was good though and it should be even better with aging. The color is lighter than anticipated but looks great.
Maybe I got a bad batch, bad yeast or something, but this beer, while it's not aged at all yet, has been disappointing in every way. I was all DME, no grains at all, the yeast didn't work and when I did get some yeast to take off in it, the resulting product is all sugary, tastes like it came out of a Mr. Beer kit.
