Barleywine

I ordered the 1 gallon barleywine wine beer recipe, it was super easy to brew. It was not my first time brewing, I have used 1 other recipe kit many other times. It was also my first time using extract only and fizz drops for carbonation. The process went well and as I am writing I have about 3 days left to open a bottle and drink. My barleywine clocked in at 7.3% but I believe it will be higher, we'll see. So far so good I recommend Northern Brewer to anyone that just loves cooking up some deliciousness ( I'll let you know how that barleywine taste).

...always kind of amazed when the review request comes out a few weeks after purchase for a brew recipe that requires a couple of months minimum for fermentation in the bottle--I still have a Bomber from last Christmas that is probably just right so not near ready to truly review this on.

Finished at 9.5% which I was happy with

Very easy to brew

All extract recipe is incredibly easy. No steeping grains, etc.

Only wish it came in a larger batch. It would be great if you could add flavor profile to description.

1st Batch: Great! 2nd Batch Fermenting

I've only been brewing for two months & the second batch I made was this Barleywine (OG 1.087 FG 1.012 9.8% ABV). I tend to leave this style it in the fermenting fridge @ 68°F until the day before I drink it. I fact, there's one in my stein right now.

I decided to soup up the second batch a bit by adding 1/2 cup of raw unfiltered honey 15 minutes before flameout (OG 1.092 FG 1.006 11.2% ABV). Looking forward to first taste in 6 weeks!
