Excellent Base Malt For British Ales

I really like Maris Otter and Optic malts, and I also really like Briess Ashburne Mild malt for British style ales, and not just milds. This malt is great in a S.M.a.S.H. with Fuggles or Goldings or as the base malt in a Scottish ale. Cut down on (or cut out completely) the amount of specialty malts with this malt as a rich, bready base.
