First time I've used this "Malt". Smells good and cooks well. Can't wait to try it!
I really like Maris Otter and Optic malts, and I also really like Briess Ashburne Mild malt for British style ales, and not just milds. This malt is great in a S.M.a.S.H. with Fuggles or Goldings or as the base malt in a Scottish ale. Cut down on (or cut out completely) the amount of specialty malts with this malt as a rich, bready base.
I like using this malt in my dark beers, especially Milds, as it provides body and richness to the beer. I combine it with Golden Promise, and flaked barley to create a malty, complex, and full bodied low alcohol beer.
