Product details

Since its release in 2008, Citra has been one of the most recognized and used flavor and aroma hops by craft brewers and homebrewers alike. Notable commercial examples are endless but Psuedo Sue from Toppling Goliath and Zombie Dust from Three Floyds are notorious for using Citra as the sole hop. This American hop has a lineage featuring Hallertau Mittelfruh, US Tettnang, East Kent Goldings, Brewer’s Gold, and others. The high Myrcene content provides a strong aromatic profile of citrus and tropical fruit.

Prompt delivery for a staple product.

I have added Citra pelletized hops to my brewing supply cache. The 8 oz. package allows control and discretion in my brews. I can use any amount I choose - rather than be limited by a small packet of hops. Yet it is a small enough product size that it will not go stale before use. I do refrigerate the package, however.

Great Citrus, But Not Dank

I've been using Citra for 3+years (38 batches, 92 oz), along with Cascade and Centennial (2.5 oz Cas/Cen: bittering; 2.5 CenCitra: Aroma, 2.5 Cen/Citra: Dry). Super results. Note that I'm an East Coast guy who loves Pliney, but not danky Treehouse IPA's. But my Rye/Oatmeal Stout is better than commericial.

The best citrus hop!

Citra hops are top sellers for a reason! They have great depth and complexity and can be used in a variety of ways. My favorite is in an American Wheat. Equal parts wheat and 2-row plus 10% caramel 40. Clean fermenting yeast - I use Kolsch. I use .33 oz Magnum for bittering and then 1 oz citra for a hop stand after flameout. It's the perfect combo of fruity smell and grapefruit taste that fades perfectly!
