Dark Belgian Candi Sugar 1 lb.
Imported from Belgium, this sugar is refined from sugar beets, and is 100% fermentable. Rated at 275°L; actual color contribution is lower.
Candi sugar or syrup? I wasn't sure so I have tried both. This does not seem quite as sweet and caramel-like as the syrup that I used, but the two are very similar. It provided the right kind of flavor and sweetness for my Belgian ale.
Mild complex flavor perfect for Alt.
Larger chunks, but otherwise it works great in tea after you've broke them down.
I love this sugar, it replaces the sugar I was getting from Teavana before they closed. The is the 2nd batch I ordered. Although i was a little disappointed with the packaging some of the sugar in the 3 packages wete crushed and turned to powder
I use rock sugar for tea because I like the slow melt and low taste sweetness of the beet sugar rock crystals. I always used Teavana sugar, but they have closed their online site, so I needed an alternative. Many of those available online were just cane sugar rock candy. This seemed to be the closest so I ordered. It has worked great. The only reason it doesn't get a five from me is that it has much bigger pieces of sugar, so doesn't work quite as well as the Teavana, but still, a good alternative.
