Product details

Beware the dragon that lurks in the inky shadows of this potent ale. On the surface, Dragon's Silk Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout exhibits a facade of chocolate, coffee, and approachable roast. But as you delve deeper into the lair you will discover a tremendous hoard of sweet bourbon, rich oak, and smooth notes of opulent vanilla.

Brewing this recipe kit is much easier than slaying any dragon, thanks to an abundance of premium ingredients and brewmaster know-how. But the complexity of the finished ale is as layered and captivating as any quest. We urge you to face off with a pint of this commanding ale and savor your victory.

Great recipe

Great recipe. Been turned out great. Will keep this recipe in my rotation

Nice stout

Second time brewing, first time I added a little too much bourbon, though it did age nicely and everything mellowed out. I kegged the first batch, and as I saw how well it aged, I decided to brew again and bottle this time. I plan on letting these age at least 6 months ( we will see...) I will definitely keep a few bottles for next Christmas

My son wants to replace his blood with this stout.

It took while to get this one done, lots of secondary fermentation and I made sure to give the gelatin time to settle out as much as possible. Now it's done and we sampled it last night. My son literally said he wanted to replace his blood with this batch because it was so amazing.

Can a man expect better praise?

We’re gonna need a bigger boat

First things first: I haven’t actually consumed the finished product yet, but the sips taken from the fermenter were delicious.

I am a still a noob brewer in general and almost a total rookie at all grain. I think this was our 3rd BIAB brew and our first with such a large grain bill.

Trying to squeeze this into a 10 gallon kettle was ambitious, and not really doable. We ended up losing a bit of wort. I’d recommend:
-avoiding a BIAB approach
-decrease the calculated amount of strike water
-getting the biggest kettle you can justify owning

Regardless of volume issues, the aforementioned pre-bottled sips are remarkable. I look forward to drinking this during the customary late April snows of the western Catskills.

Looks to be a nice Stout

Finally kegged a couple of days ago. Sample tasted pretty good. Put it on a Nitrogen tap, will try next week. I milled grain, no brew day problems.
