Product details

Creating the railroad empire across the west took considerable fortitude, commitment, and a strong back. Empire Builder Cream Ale is a nod to that incredible effort. This recipe boasts an original gravity of 1.074, certainly not for the weak of heart, and the sturdy malt backbone provides the basis on which this strength is founded.

Speaking of commitment, Americans have brewed the Cream Ale style for a century or more, growing and adapting it right along with our railways. This scaled up version of the classic boasts clean malt flavors, a firm bitterness, and features traditional adjuncts to achieve its medium body. Pouring with a deep golden hue and capped with a dense brilliantly white foam cloud, Empire Builder Cream Ale forges west into the sunset, never looking back.

Empire Builder Imperial Cream Ale with a punch

I have brewed this Cream Ale many times before and it's always a favorite of mine and my friends and family. I just brewed and bottled another batch however, I adjusted the recipe to increase the AVB (thanks to brewsmith software) and the result was 8.66% abv. The result thus far is good flavor, the additional alcohol is masked quite well and the color is spot on...once the bottle conditioning is complete - we'll see how is settles out and if it ages well.
Brew on!

Great Beer

Used half of this beer for the original recipe and the other half making a jalapeno cream ale. Both turned out smooth and flavorful! Definitely will be buying this kit again.

Just kegged my seventh batch of this cream ale. 8.2%, mild citrus taste, creamy head and great color. As I have said in past reviews this beer will always be in my house whether it is in a keg or bottle. Best value of all the recipes!
