Product details

Creating the railroad empire across the west took considerable fortitude, commitment, and a strong back. Empire Builder Cream Ale is a nod to that incredible effort. This recipe boasts an original gravity of 1.074, certainly not for the weak of heart, and the sturdy malt backbone provides the basis on which this strength is founded.

Speaking of commitment, Americans have brewed the Cream Ale style for a century or more, growing and adapting it right along with our railways. This scaled up version of the classic boasts clean malt flavors, a firm bitterness, and features traditional adjuncts to achieve its medium body. Pouring with a deep golden hue and capped with a dense brilliantly white foam cloud, Empire Builder Cream Ale forges west into the sunset, never looking back.

Another EBICA

Just kegged my seventh batch of this cream ale. 8.2%, mild citrus taste, creamy head and great color. As I have said in past reviews this beer will always be in my house whether it is in a keg or bottle. Best value of all the recipes!

Great Recipe!

Clean, crisp, and perfectly hopped Cream Ale. I'll be putting another batch of this together for the Spring and Summer! Outstanding...delicious change-up beer.

Great taste. Darker than expected

First time brewing this one so didn’t know what to expect. Came out darker than I thought a cream ale would be. It taste great. Does have a slight alcohol taste to it but I guess that is why it’s an imperial. I usually brew lower gravity beers so I can have a few without falling asleep. This one is definitely a one beer sipping beer.

Tasty but little carbonation

The brew is delicious! Malty with some fruity notes and the hops are just right. This brew had very little carbonation. Not sure why, but the flavor sort of makes up for it.
I have a suggestion for you. Stop badgering your customers for a product review a week after they receive their brewing kit! You KNOW we haven’t had time to brew, ferment, bottle, and rest the batch. Instead, enclose a note and QR link with the kit requesting a review when the brew is done and tasted. Perhaps a small incentive such as “points” toward a future purchase would help people remember to do it. An e-mail reminder at 6 weeks or so post purchase might be okay too. Cheers!
