Why choose brown glass bottles?
The beer bottle glass color you choose for your homebrew will greatly impact its taste. Dark amber or brown glass greatly reduces UV light from spoiling the beer. Sure, any colored glass beer bottles filter out both visible and ultraviolet light. Brown glass blocks out more light than green, making it the optimal choice for bottling homebrew. Dark beers also absorb more light than light beers, making it essential to store stouts, bocks, and the like in brown bottles, while lighter beers can be stored in green bottles.
Since, clear glass beer bottles don't block any light, they are the least desirable choice for long term beer storage, with the exception of any specific beverage whose color was the primary characteristic you were trying to stress, such as a red ale.
Had a small issue with a couple of bottles. Customer service did a great job taking care of me and the issue.
I have had no issues with these bottles
They were well packed. I had no bottles break.
These are great. I would give them 5 stars, but there are usually 1 or 2 bottles that do not carbonate, likely from incorrect placement on my end. I've tried tightening the wire bales with pliers which fixed one of them, but had to purchase new gaskets for the others. I wish I could put regular bottle caps on these to ensure a seal, but they do not fit. But if you're ok with losing a bottle or two in your batch, then these are a great alternative that makes bottling much faster. If anyone has tips to fix a faulty cap please let us know!
Good news first.....after enjoying your Bavarian Hefeweizen decided to expand into the 5 gal. club. Received the Block Party Amber Ale with my kit. Already had 24-12oz bottles and figured it to be easier with larger bottles. Received the bottles w/EZ caps now let's make some beer.....so far so good.....brewed,bottled let's start drinking 😃 12oz all is well.....now the BAD news...12-32oz.....6 good.....6 flat (none carbonated). Very disappointed, thought I had a good plan going...... I had planned on purchasing another 5 gal. batch but I don't think I can trust the EZ caps again. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Cheers 🍻
