Fermaid O Yeast Nutrient
Fermaid O is an Organic version of Fermaid K. It is an autolyzed yeast nutrient with a high content of organic nitrogen (amino acids). It is formulated without DAP. It is best to add Fermaid O in two doses. Add half the dose at the end of lag phase (at the onset of fermentation) and the other half between 1/4 and 1/3 sugar depletion.
To Use: Fermaid O should be mixed with room temperature water before adding to an active fermentation to avoid CO2 release and overflowing of tanks or barrels. The amount of water used is not critical. Simply add enough to make a slurry.
Dosage: 1.5 grams/gallon
Storage: Dated expiration. Store at 18°C(65°F). Once opened, keep tightly sealed and dry.
Used it on a mead. Went off without a hitch and finished strong. Will definitely use again
Fermaid O boosts the efficacy of the champagne yeast I use to brew hard kombucha. It allows the batch to exceed 6% alcohol, which I found difficult to achieve without Fermaid O due to the acidity of the kombucha, even when I dilute the 2nd fermentation with more sweetened tea. The fermentation period is shortened with better results using this. I highly recommend adding it to your brew.
Use with tosna protocall to keep fermentation going.
Used it for a few meads already with no issues. Only wish they sold at 100 grams since I'm not making enough to buy the 750g. Still a great product.
I used Fermaid O with my first batch of mead (BOMM). It helped keep the yeast healthy to ferment the must to 13% ABV. I will use it again.
