Herculometer® - Precision Scale Hydrometer 0.980 to 1.020
At last, a hydrometer that can withstand the toughest brew days and provide hyper-accurate readings for your brews! We've combined rugged polycarbonate plastic and the accuracy of a precision hydrometer to bring you the Herculometer® Precision Hydrometer.
The 0.980 to 1.020 is a great range for ensuring the completion of your fermentation for beer, cider, mead, and wine before you bottle or keg. The precision scale gives you the most accurate final gravity reading possible; far more exact than a standard triple scale hydrometer.
Strength. Precision. Purpose.
- Calibrated at 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Range : 0.980 to 1.020
- Resolution: 0.001
- Accuracy: +/- 0.002
The first thing I did was test this in water, it read .997. So now i just add.003 to all readings. The scale is much easier to read the final gravity on my cider along with back sweetening.
Tested this against my other "handle with extreme care" narrow range finish hydrometer...matching readings and I can let my wine making neophyte partners use it without fear of them breaking it. (some people aren't as careful with stuff as you'd like them to be?)
Love the durability of this hydrometer. Be sure to calibrate, as my hydrometer is off 0.002. I appreciate the finer scale of measurement I get with this hydrometer.
What's the point of a "precision" hydrometer when it's inaccurate? Not just a little bit either, when tested against a calibrated hydrometer it is off by 3 gravity points. Worthless.
I do not recommend.
We immediately found this hydrometer to be inaccurate. We tested it in distilled water and it gave an inaccurate reading of 1.002 rather than 1.000.
Buyer beware on this product. Test before you rely on it.
