Herculometer® - Precision Scale Hydrometer 1.000 to 1.070
At last, a hydrometer that can withstand the toughest brew days and provide hyper-accurate readings for your brews! We've combined rugged polycarbonate plastic and the accuracy of a precision hydrometer to bring you the Herculometer® Precision Hydrometer.
The 1.000 to 1.070 is a great mid-range scale for measuring the specific gravity of most beer, cider, mead, and wine or for testing your brewhouse efficiency.
Strength. Precision. Purpose.
- Calibrated at 60 degrees Fahrenheit
- Range : 1.000 to 1.070
- Resolution: 0.0005
- Accuracy: +/-0.001
love using it. finally can get an accurate reading no need to guess the numbers are big enough to read and lines are so clear.
Accurate and it works. No more broken glass for me.
Before I bought this hydrometer, I read the reviews and chatted with a rep from NB. I was told the glass lab grade would be more accurate than this one. Well, indeed it reads .002 too low (at 60F). Not sure if this holds over various temperatures or over a variety of SG. But it is plastic, not glass so it should survive. Not sure if this is important as I have never broken a glass hydrometer in 45 years of brewing.
Works fine, bounces too!
Recently purchased two Herculometer hydrometers with ranges 0.980-1.020 and 1.000-1.070. Neither came with any instruction and, in particular, with no indication as to what temperature they were calibrated. Checking with distilled water at 60F, the 1.000-1.070 hydrometer appeared right on, but the 0.098-1.020 hydrometer was off about 2 points. Not sure if the error was due to improper calibration or whether it was calibrated at a different temperature. Some instruction and calibration data would be very helpful.
