Product details

Traditional Irish ales are malty, smooth and medium-bodied. But it's the deep copper-red color that gives Irish Red Ale its name. Our beer recipe kit captures that rich, radiant hue and signature toasty, sweet character using a blend of specialty malts and authentic ingredients, just like the original.

And, true to form, our Irish Red Ale is an immensely drinkable, crowd-pleasing brew. Its great taste, along with low aging requirements make this one of our best-selling kits.

Clean, smooth and incredibly approachable, Irish Red Ale isn't bitter or boozy, making it perfect for just about any occasion or palate.

Makes a great base for expirementation.

This recipe makes a quality, well rounded wort that I often use to experiment with. This time was an addition of local maple syrup to the secondary, and bottle priming with the same syrup. Excellent results from a great starting recipe.

Irish Red Ale

This my second batch of Irish Red Ale in the last three batches I made. My wife a light beer drinker really liked the previous batch that was on tap and so I ordered another. It is in the secondary and will soon be kegged. I was glad to find a beer my wife and I can enjoy together.

It's Average

The kit was easy to use and came with great instructions. The beer is just ok. It doesn't have a ton of flavor but does seem to get better towards the end of the glass. I'm going to let it bottle condition for a bit longer but don't think that will change much. It's an ok beer but I probably wouldn't buy this one again when there are so many better options at Northern Brewer.

Bit of a sticky wicket

Everything case as ordered, and quickly as usual. Only issue i had was some of the liquid extract managed to coat the packages of everything in the shipment, sich that it was all stuck together.
I consider it a fluke, as it has never happenef before in all the years I have patronized Northern Brewers.
