Simply the tastiest Pilsner malt you can find

We all know craft beer--this is craft "malt".
You ever have a side-by-side tasting of presliced supermarket whole wheat and whole wheat bread from a neighborhood bakery? That's the closest analogy I can make. Pelton imparts a crisp, slightly bready malt character having a good deal more complexity than a typical pils from Germany. There are similarities to Weyermann Barke pils, but I like Pelton more for its grassy flavor. And I do know another thing--given its high cost, it typically only makes sense to homebrew with it--no commercial brewer can squeeze margins this tightly--so that makes it all the more special. The free shipping on a 50-lb sack is what sets Northern Brewer apart from other suppliers--it was a no brainer.

Love everything from mecca grade

I always have mecca grade pilsner on hand. I love the versatility and expressiveness. Very crisp with notes of undercooked bread that work well with so many styles

Why I used Pelton malt

Been playing around with making white (lager) IPA. I’m a partial mash brewer. I used “Pelton” because it was something new to me. I was pleased with how clean, fresh and whole kernel the malt was. It definitely added a ‘doughy’ complexity to the taste, and added an aroma of grape nuts. Used it with Pilsner LME, Vienna malt, aromatic malt, honey malt, with Lemondrop, El Dorado and Calypso hops.

Mecca Grade

I used the Mecca Grade Pelton Pilsner and Rye Malt in my recent rye saison. The beer, now four weeks in the bottle, does have the slightly grassy overtone that the product detail describes. Very fresh, very good. Very saison!
