Product details

Famed beer writer Michael Jackson is credited with reviving this nearly forgotten old English classic when he wrote about it in 1977. He describes these ebony potables as "firm, smooth, silky, [with] a hint of nuttiness in their complex of coffee, chocolate and roast flavors." If we could describe our Oatmeal Stout more eloquently, we be the ones getting paid to drink the best beers in the world.

Oatmeal stout

Grain bag was half pound light. I backed off on the mash, but still not much body and came in at 3.8 abv. NB should consider shipping roasted grains separate from base. Sugars already being converted during roasting and these should be late additions to mash. Ph ends all out of wack too. Just some food for thought. Thanks

Excited to try

It’s currently fermenting and excited to keg it. I just use dry yeast and it’s fermenting perfectly fine

Excellent Stout

One of my favorite Fall beers. Relax around the fire with friends

Can I clone Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout?

I bought your kit and added a little more roasted malt, more flaked oats, and a touch of crystal 60. I'm going to try to make a tasty version of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. I also choose a higher Alpha hop at 60 minutes to bring my IBU's up to about 26. Your kit made a nice base for my Ex-BEER-ament. Brewdog333
