Omega Yeast OYL-028 Belgian Ale W
A truly authentic strain for brewing Belgian dubbel or Belgian tripel. This strain produces a nice balance of complex fruity esters and phenolics, making it desirable for use in other Belgian style ales as well. A flocculent, true top cropping yeast (additional headspace is recommended), that will work over a broad temperature range. Makes a great Belgian style "house" strain. More temperature tolerant than some Belgian strains, this yeast can produce great results with a gradual temperature ramp over the first week of fermentation.
*NOTE:*During summer months, we include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeast orders. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will stay frozen given transit times and particularly hot temperatures. For this reason, we recommend ordering dry yeast during summer months.
Like it so far. Make sure you have A blow off tube. Made a great white ipa then reharvested for a triple. Awesome for Belgian triple. Brought gravity down from 1.088 to 1.010 in no time. Great tasting beer
This is some very active yeast. Made a 1200 ml starter in my 2l flask and it still foamed over! Cold crashed, decanted, stepped up the starter with more wort then when that was done, pitched into two batches. A Belgian imperial stout and a Belgian tripel, both coming along nicely. You need a blow off and lots of headspace, this yeast takes off very fast!
Great yeast, blew out of my airlock it was so active great tasting brew
kicked off quickly and fermented like a maniac, the krausen was massive eventually reached 7 gallon mark in my Fermonster use a blow off set up. Attenuation greater than predicted after 2 weeks and tasting good.
Very healthy and strong fermentation. It is a true top cropping yeast that made harvesting easy. Takes any SG of 1.060 or lower down to 1.010 on the dot.
