The rice hulls worked great, my Blue Moon clone came out fantastic!
EXCELLENT PRODUCT. EXCELLENT SERVICE. EXCELLENT PRICE.
Needed these for an experiment I am trying. 5 lbs is a large bag.
rice hulls. I always use at least a half pound per five-gallon batch. I've never had a stuck mash. Probably wouldn't have to use it every time but it gives me peace of mind for a small price.
Rice hulls are called for whenever your mash contains a high proportion of wheat. The canonical case is hefeweizen (6# wheat, 4# pils, 1# Munich, 1# rice hulls for a five gallon batch). The rice hulls make the grain bed more manageable and keep the sparge from getting stuck in gelatinous goo. Worth every penny.
