Product details

The Winemaker Trio is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Zinfandel. This new-world style of wine blends the blackberry, mint, and pepper of Syrah, the raspberry, red berry and anise of Zinfandel and the cassis, dark cherry and powerful tannins of Cabernet for wine that simultaneously powerful, yet restrained, and fruity, yet structured, with an integrated balance of tannins and acidity. The inviting finish of vanilla, cherry, chocolate, and refined tannins begs for another sip.

Bold enough to pair up with Texas barbecue, this wine works with rich, meaty stews and casseroles as well as less weighty dishes, like eggplant Parmigiano.

Ours turned out very good. Instructions were vague however. Had to add some like wine to complete carboy.

This will be good!

En Primeur Trio Red: Racked today prior to bottling in a few days. Sampled the progress, of course. First impressions are: inky dark color; nose of dark fruit and earth; moderate body; bright juicy acidity with dark fruit, soft tannins and some oak.

This is the best kit that I have made so far. Great color and taste, and it’s not bottled yet! It’s so good I just ordered another one.

Easy to follow directions. Can't wait to taste it when it is ready.

Best we've found

My wife and I really enjoy this blend. Our fifth kit is a couple of weeks from bottling right now (that's in under 3 yrs - yikes). The RJS En Primeur series is a high quality product; good instructions. I make it by the instructions without adding more sulfites, so we don't let it get very old, but that also means there's less of an issue with the sulfite-headache some people experience. A pricey kit, but six-ish dollars a bottle (especially if you can catch one of NB's specials) for wine that's way better than $6 wine.
