2.5° L. Phenol level 20-35. While the malt is in the kiln, peat moss outside the kiln is gently smoked over slow burning coals allowing its vapors to drift above the malt. Peat malt is used in the distilling of Scotland finest whiskies, but has found favor with homebrewers and craft brewers in smoked beers. Adds intense iodine and seaweed smoke phenol character - a little goes a long way!

Great peated malt

Fast service and fair pricing! I used 2lbs peated malt with flaked oats and 2 row malted barley and I made a very good scotch that wasn’t overly smoky tasting. Will purchase again.

Poor crush

The malt itself was OK -- obviously, use with a light hand. I ordered crushed, and it looked as if it was passed through a crusher that was set wide open. Approx. 25-30% of the kernels were completely untouched. Even pressing them with my fingernail didn't break them open (so, no they weren't just held together by the hull -- they were untouched). This has been happening to my past few orders and my efficiency has been suffering. Disappointing.
