Product details

An assertive black ale dominated by roast-coffee and chocolate character and hop bitterness. Northern Brewer's hometown gives its name to our robust porter kit - an assertive black ale dominated by roast-coffee and chocolate character and hop bitterness. Toffee-like maltiness and citrusy hop flavor are in there as well, with a medium-full body and lingering roast malt/hop bitterness before a bittersweet finish. We like spiking barbecue sauce with a splash of this porter; it also great with strong cheese like sharp cheddar or Stilton.

Good Wort

Produced a very nice aroma’d wort, I used an older Wyeast packet (5 months old) so was afraid it wouldn’t ferment. Took 72 hours after pitch but now is burbling like a baby.

Love the taste of this Porter. Starts out with some hop bitterness and finishes with the typical Porter taste. Will definitely purchase again.

Good Again

Second time for this kit. First was extract, This brew was all grain. One of my favs.

True to style

I brewed this about a month ago. I tapped the keg yesterday and this beer was a hit. It’s true to style, and I’m pleased with the recipe.

My review is really about the direction. I recently switched from extract to all grain. The directions you give with extract are very precious, step by step and easy to follow. But your all grain kits don't really give much direction at all. I have to watch YouTube videos as I'm brewing. I'm sure for the more experienced brewer it's not a big deal. But for people who are new to all grain it is. That being said, I have ordered pretty much all of my equipment and ingredients through Norther Brewer and have been very happy. I have even recommended your kits to others.
Thank you for what you do and for your time.
