I really wanted this to work. Imagine only having to sterilize 4 containers to bottle 5 gallons. The problem is getting the beer out again without losing half or more of the carbonation.

There is technique to acquire. You must fully commit when you press the handle, no trying to sneak the beer out of the keg. There is a bit of fudge about the carbonation from the CO2 cylinder. It's regulated by the walve at the head of the cylinder in an undocumented fashion.
