Product details

Belgian-style wheat beer with complex yeast character and aromatic spices. An appealingly crisp, dry, and refreshing alternative to generic warm-weather lawnmower beer.
Literally, "white beer," this Belgian wheat beer got its name because of its cloudy haze (it actually straw-gold in color). The smooth mouthfeel, grainy flavor, and massive head retention of wheat malt meets dry and phenolic Belgian witbier yeast and the tart, enticing character of coriander and bitter orange peel very complex and delicate. An appealingly crisp, dry, and refreshing alternative to generic warm-weather lawnmower beer.

Light & Refreshing!

This is the third time brewing the Witbier recipe. I always do it in the summer because it pairs so well with sunny days on the patio.

My bad

I ended up with a stalled fermentation on this one. Ferm started out just fine, but stalled before full attenuation. I think this may be my fault. My mashing temps may have been too high. Ferm temp was 68 to 70. Not blaming the kit or the yeast, just being honest that I flubbed this one. Next time I will start using an iodine test to check for conversion.

I have brewed this before, and I concur with some that 1/2 half of the coriander is a better addition.

Excellent Wit

This is a really excellent Wit. I've brewed it twice, and I've been really impressed with the results each time. Note - the recipe was not clear on whether to crush the coriander or put in whole. After some research, I decided to crush, and I crushed the coriander with a mortar and pestle. I would say the coriander is spot on, and I think it would be lacking if not crushed. Really enjoyable brew for spring and quite crushable (pun intended).

One of the best wheat beers yet

The all grain kit was complete and easy to brew up. Crushed grain was just right with cracked hulls. This beer came out great and one of the best tasting wheat beers I've brewed (in 25 years of brewing). I will order again.

A nice & mellow beer

This beer reminded me of a ray of sunshine. It came out refreshing with a hint of lemon citrus. I missed the ABV by .3%. I paired with Abbaye Belgian style ale yeast. It went over well with friends. A great drinking beer that was smooth, mellow, and a perfect match for a backyard BBQ or afternoon outdoors.
