Product details

Wyeast 3278 Lambic Blend is a combination of Belgian style ale yeast, sherry yeast, two Brettanomyces strains, and two lactic acid bacteria strains for producing lambic-style ale.

This blend contains yeast and bacteria cultures important to the production of spontaneously fermented beers of the Lambic region. Specific proportions of a Belgian style ale strain, a sherry strain, two Brettanomyces strains, a Lactobacillus culture, and a Pediococcus culture produce the desirable flavor components of these beers as they are brewed in Brussels. Propagation of this culture is not recommended and will result in a change of the proportions of the individual components. This blend will produce a very dry beer due to the super-attenuative nature of the mixed cultures. Apparent attenuation: 70-80%. Flocculation: Variable. Optimum temp: 63°-75° F

NOTE: During summer months, we include complimentary ice packs with all liquid yeast orders. However, it is difficult to guarantee that the ice packs will stay frozen given transit times and particularly hot temperatures. For this reason, we recommend ordering dry yeast during summer months.

Works good but needs to be put in early so it has some sugar to eat

A good blend. You can add later to the wort but don't wait too late... it needs food and if you used a starter yeast first off you will need to add some raw wort to feed the beast!

Not sure about this one

Ordered this yeast for a beer that will be aged for 6 months. I was home when it arrived and placed in immediately in the fridge. Approx 1 month later (still well within the dates) we warmed it up and smacked it. Approx 4 hours later the pouch had no noticeable change in size.. The package stated we could just pitch it without letting it swell so we just put it in. It didn't really seem to do anything so I guess we will find out if it worked in 7 months or so.
