Almost perfect
I'd give these 5 stars if all of them came sewn shut on one end.

Racking cane cover.
Besides using this to hold your grains for 1 gallon batches this works great as a racking cane cover to filter hops from dry hopping from getting into the bottling bucket. Dont tie your hops in this bag ull never get it out of the glass carboy. Just cover the bottom of the cane

Works well for hop-balls.
I buy these in 10-packs. I cut it in half and tie one end. Add hop pellets then then tie them shut. Helps keep the crud out of the fermenter when draining the kettle. Basically, I get a 20-count packaged by cutting them in half. Works well.

Perfect for Whole hops
I only use whole leaf hops and these are perfect for that. Not so great for pellets obviously lol. Also great for dry hopping

Great Product.
Was a little linty when I took it out but I washed it with warm water before use. It worked great tied to the pot handed on a small batch.

A necessity
Started using these to boil in the bag. For a five gallon batch I use about five for the grain and two or three for the hops, depending on the recipe. Wouldn't start a batch without them anymore.

What Can I Say?
They're muslin bags that look and work just as described. I always like having several of these on the shelf as a back-up to the ones that come with the ingredient kits and for hop additions when using lots of hops; keeps me from losing a good volume a beer to a deep trub of spent hops. More economical to buy in packages of 10.

Do these bags have to be sanitized before use in a Secondary fermenter?
A shopper on Dec 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Its always a good idea to sanitize anything that comes in contact with your beer
The brew kit I have calls for a sparging process and using a strainer to strain out the grain mash. I was thinking of simply using a muslin bag to avoid having to use a strainer. How many pounds of grain will this bag hold? Thanks.
A shopper on Jun 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not looking specifically at the size of the bag, this bag it's most likely for a few pounds of grain, and will work fine for that. I'm guessing this is a hybrid extract and grain kit. These bags can be a little tight when the grain expands so tie the knot at the get end for maximum volume. A tight bag of grain will not let water pass through easily. We used to stick our spoon right through the bag when we were done and propped it on top of the kettle to drain
will this work for pellet hops? will it affect the hop flavoring?
A N on Jan 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have used it for both leaf and pellet hops and it works great. It definitely helps keep unwanted particles out of the trub. I have not noticed any flavor changes between using the muslin bags and not using them. I use them and will continue to.
shipping weight for the 10 pack? thanks
Jose N on Sep 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Not very much! We show a weight of .15 lbs in our inventory system for the 10-pack of muslin bags. -Mike W, Northern Brewer
What's the length of each bag? Morebeer sells the 5 in. x 15 in. disposable hop bags. That's what I'm looking for from NB.

Thanks.
R A on Sep 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: These measure about

x 15". Being muslin

they are very stretchy

so can expand a decent amount further than that.
i'm hoping to put pulped apple/pears for cider/perry making. would this be a good product for that purpose? seems that people are happy with using grain in this so i'm assuming the crossover should be fine.
A N on Sep 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You certainly can use this to hold your fruit for perry/cider making. It will work just fine for that purpose. I might also recommend our Brewmaster Filter Bag

as it is larger

reusable

and includes drawstrings.
