Product details

The fermenter that started it all, reinvented again! We've taken the revolutionary 6.5 gallon Big Mouth Bubbler® glass carboy and re-engineered it with the help of world-class Polish master glassmakers to ensure sturdy, solid, superior craftsmanship.

6.5 Gallon fermenters are perfect for the primary stage of beer or wine fermentation. The extra head space allows for the production of krausen on a 5 gallon batch of beer. Also available as a 5-gallon secondary fermentor.

Extra-thick glass eliminates oxygen permeation and keeps your brew safe. Banish bugs and bacteria with perfectly air-tight seals from a carefully ground, completely smooth and obsessively flat neck top.

In the evolution of Big Mouth Bubbler®, we've added some perks! Instantly measure volume with gallon graduation marks. Easier transfer of clear beer with a taller, narrower body while ensuring less liquid is left behind.

Bid your funnel and siphon sayonara! Pour cooled wort directly from your kettle into the Big Mouth Bubbler® for instant transfers. Pitch yeast without it running down the sides of your fermentor. Easily add flavorings to secondary, and then just as easily remove them!

Gallon graduation markings help ensure precise measurement of fermenter volume.

Last but not least, you asked and we listened: more space for the adhesive FermagraF° LCD thermometer than any other glass fermentor! The most obsessively engineered glass fermentor ever created, we are proud and excited to introduce the new and improved Big Mouth Bubbler® EVO 2.

Now Includes the Northern Brewer Universal Harness for lifting, transporting and ensuring your Big Mouth Bubbler lid stays firmly in place during even the most intense fermentations.

Each Big Mouth Bubbler® Includes:

  • New Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid
  • Carrying Harness for Big Mouth Bubblers®

The new Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid fits all Big Mouth Bubbler® Fermenters. The Big Mouth Bubbler® Universal Lid is just like a traditional carboy bung, only bigger! Just as easy to sanitize and set in place too. Removable ribbed silicone ring ensures a positive seal to keep out pests, while the non-threaded design allows the lid to move preventing an out-of-control fermentation from dangerously pressurizing your fermenter.

You will also need a Small Universal Carboy Bung - drilled or solid

Extreme changes in temperature or sudden contact with hard surfaces may cause glass to crack. Handle with care. We strongly recommend using the Northern Brewer Universal Harness for increased safety and ease of handling.

Northern Brewery is amazing

I love all the big mouth bubblers I have ordered from Northern Brewer. I will continue to order my brewing equipment from them.

Great fermenter

Built like a tank. Just what I needed. For me, I don't bother with the harness. I feel more confident just hefting the jug manually. But the harness fits great too if that's your thing. Love being able to see my kombucha fermentation again (previously was using a stainless brew kettle).

Flip the gasket!

This fermentor is awesome! I use it for 5 gallon batches as a primary. Make sure to invert the gasket on the lid so the biggest ring is pointing down and it will work just fine. So much easier to clean.

Great but...

It's a hefty, glass, wide-mouth fermenter, so it pretty much does what it's gonna do. Love the clean-up and would love the wide opening if I were a dry-hopper. Actually the whole reason I bought it is so I could put a Kegland Pill in it, so it's obviously great for that too since the standard carboys have too narrow a mouth. But as others have commented, the lid here is not ideal. It doesn't fit snugly enough to resist the pressure produced during fermentation. That said, it doesn't come all the way off either, so I wasn't concerned about the brew being exposed to air, but it was still annoying.
