Northern Brewer's Briess Traditional Dark malt syrup is a blend of pale malt with some caramel 60, Munich, and black malt. It creates a dark wort with a smooth taste, suitable for Porters, Stouts, and all other dark beer styles.

Approximately 30º Lovibond, 1.036 ppg. Our malt jugs are made from BPA-free plastic.

Briess Dark Malt extract for Swarzbier

I used the briess dark lme toward a 3 gal batch of Charlie Papzian's goat **** porter. This year's "gsp" features baking chocolate, coffee and a pound of local honey. It is a recipe I've made a few times over the years and enjoy the simplicity and ability to try different ingredients.

I have ordered one of all the malts. I bake, make caramel popcorn, bagels, cakes, cookies. This is an alt for corn syrup in recipes for me. I dont prefer one to the other honestly, they're all perfect for my baking, frying, and whatever else you do with food.

Barley wine

For many years I’ve made a simple home-brew from hop-flavored malt syrup, water, sugar and yeast. Hop-flavored malt syrups are now unavailable and adding hops is expensive and troublesome, so for the last few batches I’ve skipped the hops. Briess Dark Malt works very well for this, with a satisfying flavor. It’s economical too.
