Product details

Made from 100% white sorghum grain, this gluten-free syrup provides proteins and amino acids necessary for yeast nutrition, head retention, and body along with color and flavor. Mild flavor and pale color (2° -6° Lovibond ) with a yield of 37 ppg. Our malt jugs are made from BPA-free plastic.

Northern Brewer's Briess Malt Syrups are some of the freshest malt extracts you can buy. Our high rate of turnover -- we package and sell hundreds of gallons every day -- means that the syrup you receive won't have been sitting on the shelf for months. Fresh malt extract makes better beer!

Gluten free beer.

I have had great success using the Briess Sorghum Extract to make Gluten Free Beer, which is a necessity for me since I have celiac. Finding the right yeast was a bit more of a challenge but I found that the T-58 ale yeast has done admirably.

Pretty good base

I use this to make gluten free beer. Good price for the 6 pack. Am experimenting with it now.

Gluten free experiment

I used this for a freehand recipe to make a gluten free option. Mixed with three ounces of hops it made for an excellent hazy IPA copy. The sediment Layer was deeper than with malt, word to the wise.

Sorghum beer

I wanted to make a gluten free beer. In order to take some of the harsh sorghum flavors away I added a pound of honey and only one ounce of hops. It turned out quite well and provided me with almost a lemony background flavor. Very good.
