Dark Star Burner - Premium Craft Brewery In a Box Add-On
Great burner. This is my first burner ever so that said works as expected. Bring 5 gallon biab batch to a boil in know time from mash temp of 154 in no time regulator works well. No complaints. Thanks NB for having a great site and getting me started on my brew journey.
This is a great burner that hasn't failed me yet. Even when doing full volume boils for 5 gallon batches I've had no problem getting up to desired temps. It takes a little while to get used to adjusting the flow to hold constant temperatures but once you get the hang of it, its works great. Only downside is the wind/breeze guard does leave something to be desired. Still, i would definitely recommend it for the price!
Over several years I have graduated from heating a gallon of water and mixing it with a canned wort and waiting, then I moved to a three-to-five gallon boil on the stove top. But as I began boiling more and more, the inconvenience of the tight space really started to wear. The Dark Star now allows me to boil a wort on the back porch, or the garage, without a cabinet or microwave getting in the way. The boil is efficient, I'm out of the kitchen, and there is so much more space. I would recommend to anyone ready to move their homebrewing to the next level.
I’ve only made 2 batches with it so far but I am extremely pleased with it! Nice and sturdy and boils 5 gallons of water and wort pretty quickly.
This is not a top-of-the-line burner but it works for what it is and does the job at an affordable price. We made the beer that came with the kit (not a huge fan of full-extract) but everything worked as it should and tasted delicious.
What you may have also read is that the label does burn and gives off a smell for the first 30-45 minutes. But, after that there is no other issues, no other smells.
