Product details

A multiple gold medal winner at the Colorado State Fair, this decadent vanilla porter is sure to raise eyebrows. A rich, smooth porter with hints of rum and molasses behind a coffee-like roasted character, then infused with fragrant vanilla. The final pint emanates a heady vanilla perfume and makes for both a wonderful after-dinner drink or the ultimate ice cream float.

Dry Dock Brewing Company of Aurora CO is one of the hottest up and coming breweries in the US. In the 6 years that it has been open, it has racked up more than a dozen World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival medals, including Small Brewing Company of the Year. But to try one of their amazing brews, you have to live in the tiny section of Colorado they cater to. Good thing for the rest of us Dry Dock has worked closely with Northern Brewer to develop these Pro-Series beer kits. We've sourced the same ingredients and kept all the recipe particulars the same, just scaled down to your home-brewery. Enjoy!

Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

Best Vanilla Porter

It is a crowd favorite, I have a lot of people say I'm not a porter fan but after convincing them they try it and say wow that is good, not to sweet and not strong but just right!

Just as I was hoping it would taste.

This was is an amazing recipe. It tastes exactly like I was hoping it would. I get a rich full vanilla flavor from each bottle. I think I will try to ferment another week or two on my next batch of this. I will definitely use this recipe again.

Good Stout - No Vanilla

I made this kit about 2 months ago. It came out OK. Its is a good bodied stout with a good flavor and head. However, I don't really get any vanilla flavor. The directions say to chop up the beans ~1 week before bottling and toss them in the secondary. I did 2 weeks and got essentially no vanilla flavor. Next time, if i make this again, I will make an extract using the beans and bourbon to get better flavor.
