Product details

The Grainfather G30 220v, is your all in one brewing system, to make beer from grain. The sleek look, intuitive design, and innovative features, make this the perfect brewing companion for both experienced and beginner all grain brewers. It's made from high-quality 304-grade stainless steel with an 8 US Gal capacity, designed to make up to 6 US Gal of beer. The Grainfather Connect includes The Grainfather unit and Counter Flow Wort Chiller.

The Grainfather is electrically powered and designed to be used indoors. No need for burners, just plug in and go! It’s fitted with a controlled heating element so the correct power is used at each stage of the brewing process. A gentler heat can be used for accurate temp control and to minimize scorching risk. After the mash, heat can be ramped quickly for vigorous heating. Heat from mash to boil in as little as 20 min.

Control box for heat and power control features:

Use the Connect Control Box in conjunction with the Connect App and Grainfather Brewing Community for the ultimate experience. Create recipes on the Grainfather Brewing Community, then sync them with the Connect App. The control box connects to your mobile device via Bluetooth for remote control. This allows you to multitask or simply relax while brewing and receive an alert for your next step.

  • PID algorithm works in conjunction with a TRIAC for more stable heating and power output control
  • Programmable step mashing
  • Delayed heating - fill your Grainfather with water the night before and wake up to strike water at temp & ready to brew

  • Power Req: 220-240 V
  • Power Supply Outlet Req: NEMA 6-15R or NEMA6-20R compatible
  • Heating Element: 2000 W
  • 8 US Gal
  • Expandable grain basket accommodates up to 20lb
  • A robust magnetic drive pump (6 watt, 1800 RPM)
  • Counter flow wort chiller can cool wort to less than 68°F in approx 20-30 min

  • Clips to convert your Grainfather to a home distillery with the Pot Still Attachments

Pump Features:

A 6 Watt, 1,800 RPM magnetic powered pump recirculates the wort through the grain bed for maximum efficiencies. The pump is also used during cooling to pump hot wort through the wort chiller. The pump also makes cleaning quick and easy by pumping the cleaner through the pipework. The magnetic drive pump was rigorously tested to ensure it meets the tough demands required of continuous brewing. The pump is concealed by a stainless pump cover, which is easy to open for direct access. A pump filter is fitted inside the Grainfather to prevent hops and grain from entering the pump or pipework, keeping the wort clear & preventing blockages.

Counter Flow Wort Chiller Features:

The counter flow wort chiller has two connection points. One is connected to the Grainfather, the other is connected to cold tap water. Hot wort is pumped through the copper inner coil, while cold water is pumped through the outer coil in the opposite direction, providing instant cooling. The cooled wort can be pumped directly into your clean, sterile fermenter reducing the risk of contamination. 6 US Gal of wort can be cooled in as little as 20 min. Wort will be cooled to approximately 41°F above your tap water temperature.

Grain Basket Features:

A stainless steel expandable grain basket accommodates 9.9 lb - 20 lb of grain. The fitted perforated plates and telescopic pipework easily adjust to suit your grain bill. Fit the Micro Pipework (sold separately) for grain bills below 2.6 US Gal. During sparging, a basket handle is inserted into the basket to lift it up and out of the wort. A 45-degree turn allows the grain basket’s feet to rest on the support ring allowing the grain basket to drain and allow for an optional batch sparge. A Sparge Water Heater such as the Gigawort can be used to heat sparge water.

Still trying to get a contractor for the 220 volt hookup! Can't wait to brew

Still Learning

Still learning how to most efficiently use the Grainfather. I previously brewed in a bag using a propane burner with a 10 gallon kettle. The Grainfather has excellent temperature control, and the Connect control allows me to multitask without messing up the hop schedule.
Pros: Great Temperature Control, Easy to clean, Counterflow chiller is awesome, Connect Control App is excellent.
Cons: If you crush your grains too fine, the pump clogs, but that is a user error. The boil-off rate is lower than a typical large-diameter kettle.

Beats using coolers price is a bit high but worth it.

Time saver with some annoyances

Love that the step mash is all automated, but not crazy about the wort scalding during the boil without constant attention and stirring... Love the counter chiller, but not crazy about the anemic pump. Takes forever to pump the wort into the fermenter... Love the quality of the stainless steel, but absolutely hate the fact that the graduations stamped into the kettle are nearly impossible to see.

Nice upgrade from the 110v model

I've used the 110v GF since 2018 and have brewed 70 something batches with it. I decided to upgrade to the 220v model to see if I could save some time on brew day. In a nutshell, the Grainfather in the US should have always been 220v with an option for 110v if circumstances required. The ramp up time from mash out to boil is much better and provides just enough time to get the sparge completed before the boil begins. The boil itself is also more vigorous. I'll keep the 110v unit on hand for small batches or double brew days, but the 220v will definitely be the workhouse from here out. If you have the ability to use 220v, this is the one to get.
