Northern Brewer Grain Scale

Scale shuts off after about 2 minutes on AC Power. I can understand shutting off on battery power, but it should be longer than about 2 minutes. If you are weighing a keg and tare the empty keg and it shuts off while filling, when you turn it back on it goes to zero. Then you have to turn the scale off, remove the keg, turn scale back on and replace keg on scale. Then you have to add the tare wight to the actual keg weight as it is filling. Another issue I have is that you can't unplug the display from the scale to store it and the AC adapter separately. I do like the large LCD display and the fact that it reads in kilograms and pounds, but it instead of lbs/ounces, it reads in lbs/tenths of ounces. Also when filling the keg, it takes several seconds for the display to go from zero to the actual weight. It would also be nice if it would weigh something less than 1/4 lbs. 1

Works ok for large amounts of grain. but for the lighter amounts like .25 lbs its not sensitive enough.

Norther Brewer Grain Scale - It Rocks.

After years of using kitchen scales this grain scale is a joy. No more weighing multiple batches of grain, no more large containers balanced on too small scale platforms and no more guessing what the reading is because the container hides the display. The NB Grain Scale’s platform easily holds a 20 gallon kettle and the detached readout can be positioned anywhere convenient. Runs on battery or mains, whichever is most convenient. A true time saver!

Grain scale

Two things I liked about this scale
1) plugging into AC powers every thing up no need for batteries. 2)The read out is on a cord so you can see readout screen with grain on scale

This is the scale you are looking for

Go ahead, shop around, but keep this scale in mind. It can hold 130 lbs, is accurate to 0.2 lbs, can be run off battery or mains power, and is sold with the power cord. The scale is quick to read and has a large platform - large enough for a grain bucket. The display stays on and is detached from the scale - though can be mounted. The other homebrew scales out there just can’t compete. This is the scale you are looking for.
