Product details

AKA oak beans. Heavy toast American oak cubes lend intense aromatic sweetness and a campfire/roasted coffee attribute, cooked fruit and a full mouthfeel.

Crafted from air-dried oak staves and fire-toasted by expert coopers in California, oak cubes allow winemakers to impart terrific oak flavor and aroma to wines aged in glass carboys, plastic buckets, or steel tanks. Use a single variety or create your own custom blend of different toasts and woods.

Suggested dose is 2.5 - 3 oz per five gallons; can be added during fermentation or aging. Leave wine in contact with the cubes for a minimum of two to three months.

Oak Chips

The oak chips are used every year when making wine. Simply add some to large glass carboys when fermenting or storing wine before bottleing.

Oak Chips

Just what I ordered. In 4 more months I can tell you how they worked!

Trying to Oak Chardonnay

Gave the wine a darker color but no flavor of oak. Really the only way is to put the wine in an oak barrel and leave it for a couple of years.

Good replacement when the kit supplies sawdust

I use these cubes when the kit I am starting contains the oak "dust". I really don't like to use the sawdust in my kits because it is so hard to fully remove and the resultant wine needs to be strained before drinking. These cubes provide the correct flavoring without the sawdust in the final product.

Great oak cubes

These are toasted perfectly. They are small enough to fit in any bottle (I use them for Tobasco style hot sauce) but large enough that they don't get lost.
