Product details

Isolated from Omega's Hornindal Kveik (OYL-091) culture, Lutra™ is shockingly clean with unrivaled speed when pitched at 90°F (32°C). The strain is perfect for brewing a refreshing pseudo-lager without the lead time of a lager. Lutra is your worry-free way to navigate the evolving demand for cold ones.

After a customer brewed an unusually clean German-style pilsner beer with Hornindal Kveik blend (OYL-091), Omega's R&D lab discovered that one of the strains hidden within the blend, now dubbed Lutra™ Kveik (OYL-071), ferments a wildly clean canvas that can be used for pseudo-lagers, West Coast IPAs or American Stouts.

For the most lager-like profile, we suggest fermenting between 68-72°F.

Yeast Characteristics:

  • Temp Range: 68 - 95°F
  • Attenuation: 75 - 82%
  • Flocculation: Medium-High
  • Alcohol Tolerance: 15%

Great product- Clean and efficient!

I bought this when attempting my first Pseudo-Märzen. I was a little hesitant as I have never ordered yeast online for fear it would be DOA. This yeast was a powerhouse to make a “lager” without the time needed or temp control requirement. My final product is clean and accurate to the style. Completely satisfied with this yeast. I’ll be using it again in the future for sure!

Shockingly good for faux lagers

I've used this for both a "Maibock", and "Festbier" (not marzen)... and I can say both have come out shockingly good... i brewed both with servomyces and primary fermentation was super vigorous for 3 days then relatively quiet, racked to carboy for a week, transfered to keg, cold crashed for a day, added gelatin and forced carbed low and slow for a week, pulled a couple thick gross pints off and then started drinking it. Something else to note that after a few weeks of being in the keg it kept clarifying to the point I actually had friends comment how clean, clear and crisp these beers were.

If you ever wanted to brew a lager but don't have the means, this is a good way to get pretty darn close - I would highly recommend.
