Product details

From the little-known Lutheran monasteries of northern Minnesota comes this artisanal Abbey beer. Pale, self-effacing, and easy to get along with, this Belgian-style blonde ale features the same generous malt profile and spicy yeast character of stronger Dubbels and Tripels, but its more modest gravity means you can enjoy a couple and remain upright and hard-working past Compline.

Not what I expected

Actually pretty good for hot summer days, low abv lets you enjoy more than one. I think it’s better than other saison’s I’ve drank. Most likely will brew this again, but earlier in the summer, maybe late spring

Unmilled Grain

Middle of the road review as the grain came basically unmilled. Brewed it anyway due to time constraints and got an unusable OG. 3 stars for the lessons learned on the importance of milled grain, might try again later.

Minnesota memories

The Lefse Blonde name caught my eye since I remember my grandmother making Lefse bread in Minnesota years ago. The beer is very good and definitely has a bready after taste. It was very clear when bottling but still bottle conditioned well.

Wait... what?

This actually tastes like Lefse (in beer form). I honestly don't know how to describe it. It's clearly an ale, and a blonde at that, but next to no hop (so all you silly hophead IPA guys don't come a knockin). But there is definitely like a "brown sugar," earthy (potato Lefse is the best), subtle butter (NOT DiaC) flavor to it. I don't know how the wizards at NB did it, but "good on ya."

Leffe-ish

Not only was this a super simple recipe, but it is one of my favorites thus far. At this point I have brewed dozens of batches, but I'd have to say of the half dozen I have ordered from Northern Brewer this is my favorite. Everything was extremely simple from sparging to kegging. I will definitely be ordering this one again!
